AC-4 decoding type indication?
AC-4 decoding type indication?
How can we tell if your online decoding is being used vs on-device decoding. I know my FireCube device does it on-device because you told me so but is there any indication in the UI? I have a RockTek G2 certified Android TV box which I believe has the same chipset as the FireCube, but I cannot tell what kind of decoding is used.
Re: AC-4 decoding type indication?
The best indication I've found of transcoding is 2-channel output on a 5.1 source. If your receiver shows E-AC-3 (DD+) 5.1 from an ATSC 3.0 channel, it definitely didn't come from cloud transcoding.
Re: AC-4 decoding type indication?
I don't believe there is an indicator in the UI. We can access additional debug data if the user enables "send diagnostic information" and can look that up for you. There have been ideas about implementing a sort of diagnostic/antenna-alignment screen to the app, and this could be data that we show on that same screen.
Re: AC-4 decoding type indication?
I just tried to watch with Send Diagnostics on. First with digital passthrough and second with 5.1 surround audio settings. Can somebody check for me? What details do you need from me to locate my information? Thanks.

Re: AC-4 decoding type indication?
I can see the AC4 information but not the device... can you please use the back button to exit the app, then launch again.
The device we have logs for has AC4 support in passthrough mode. ie it decodes AC4 locally when Speaker configuration is set to Digital Passthrough. When set to Stereo or 5.1 Surround it uses our cloud transcode service.

Re: AC-4 decoding type indication?
So it does work/decode like the Fire Cube. That's good.
I just turned diagnostics on and restarted the app.

3rd gen Cube. Not supported on the 1st or 2nd gen if I remember correctly.cncb wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 7:08 pm So it does work/decode like the Fire Cube. That's good.
