Also, uh, yeah I get that there are competing priorities, but you guys sent a marketing email literally yesterday pushing HDHR Prime -CC and the 6-tuner rack mount versions for sale.

Are you able to commit to fixing DRM channel playback?

I've been lucky in that most of the stuff I want to watch is "in the clear" but it's this time of year with college football and soon college basketball on DRM channels (Fox Sports, BTN) where I have to jump through about 1000 hoops to figure out how to find somewhere to watch (basically VPN out of market then pull up on an app of some sort... often on a Remote Desktop connection into my windows PC... not exactly friendly...)

Also, this is not true. Windows is not working. Not for me anyway. I’m willing to troubleshoot a lot of things but last time I started down this path you guys wanted me to wipe my windows install and start from scratch and that’s simply not something I’m willing to do.
My new windows install was not working either but after finding the correct video driver . All is well.

It is true. If you, specifically, are having an issue on Windows, then that is specific to your set up. That is not some platform-wide issue, and is completely unrelated to what we are talking about in this thread. .

I would chime in that it is working on my windows platforms. It also works on my wife's Ipad right now. Not working on Android phones or Android TV devices for me yet (as far as DRM channels go).

I would also state that if you came out with a new device that works with Cable Card and it can have support - then I would probably buy the darn thing. This device gives me options to have a TV / Cable signal anywhere in the home and it generally works. I understand Prime is now an "older device" but it works and does the trick, too. I presume some extra things like DVR recording and 4K or other features may be provided in a new refresh.

Every time I've had an issue, I call Cable Card support shown on the web page interface for my cable provider (COX) and they get it straightened out. They seem to always ask if I have TIVO device. So it seems like TIVO has enough depth / market penetration to keep the Cable companies providing Cable Card devices. Maybe someone that knows more than me on this can chime in - but I don't see why a new HDHomeRun product with a Cable Card wouldn't have some demand. Maybe I'm wrong though or maybe all the people switching to streaming is making this kind of device not feasible economically.

If I owned a company, I would spend as close to zero dollars as possible to create a new product offering that is designed around an end-of-life technology (CableCard). I have two Prime devices, and am counting the days until Spectrum kills them off. I've had a couple of close calls already. The last one had me spending seven hours in my basement with a Spectrum field technician who barely knew anything about CableCard.

Will the Google TV Streamer 4K box play DRM using cable card with the HDHomerun Prime?

Thanks for any help.

Not today. It will have the same issue as the Shield TV or any other Android-based device.

Maybe, but what do you have to gain from Nick deciding to give up today, rather than seeing if he can make it work out someday soon?

That’s why I finally turned in my cablecard to Spectrum and gave up. It was good run but not worth the money I was handing over every month for a product that no longer delivered.

Monthly check in.

Is this even being worked on? If not can you let us know?

Verizon is already emailing about the end of cablecards but I figured it’d probably be a year before that happens. But what’s the point of hanging on if I can’t watch yet another seasonal sport on DRM protected channels.
