Re: Dropping support for record engine releases older than mid-2018
20180327 is no longer supported.
20180817 will still work.
Thanks for the details.
I have removed deb(s) and rpm(s) older than 20180817 from my (very very very) unofficial repos. I may end up saving a penny a month in my AWS S3 fees (I promise not to spend it all in one place).
FWIW, I see ...

Re: Dropping support for record engine releases older than mid-2018
Can you provide a specific engine date for EOS? I will remove any versions older than that from my unsupported rpm/deb repositories just to make sure no one can install them by accident to avoid issues.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: When support for ATSC 3.0 DRM will be available?
At this point, I think companies like SiliconDust are going to have make a new device, when, and if, the powers that be will allow separate TV tuner boxes to decoded DRM channels. I don't recall any set-top-box box being allowed; even ones that only connect to one TV. I may be wrong on the latter ...

Re: High Split Converter Problem
The channel scan is taking somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes to complete, is that normal for a tuner connected to a HSC device?
As I recall, from previous explanations, In order to not overload the operators SDV system with fast channel changes (and potentially get blocked for doing so), the ...

Good thing Nick doesn't live in Sunnyvale anymore or you'd be walking by his house trying to spy on things .
TBH, one of my "entertainments" for years was driving (or walking) by companies HQ and seeing if the parking lot was full on the weekend. That made it very clear there was an ...

Re: forgelink???
As we approach the one year anniversary of the announcement of this new product, is there anything beyond copyright/trademark filings that indicate this is indeed a forthcoming product and not just vaporware.
Starting a new business venture (according to nickk, not associated with the existing ...

Re: When support for ATSC 3.0 DRM will be available?
In our opinion A3SA is trying to make supporting DRM as difficult as possible. As A3SA rules stand today DRM cannot be supported on any Apple product (Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV), cannot be supported on any Microsoft product (Windows or XBox), cannot be supported on any web based television ...

Re: Not Working When Internet Is Down?
SD has suggested (but, just like protected path required solutions that are still pending) that they understand the requirement, and will put their best people on it to address the problem space.signcarver wrote: Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:31 pm The app requires internet access to obtain the ui so yes at this time that is how the app works.

Re: DRM error Shield TV
The problem is not a cert expiring. The problem is the validation of the Android system that needs to happen when renewing the certificate.
CableCARD DRM channels work on Windows, XBox, and iPhone/iPad with the new certificates.
Excellent. Since you fully understand the issue, and will put ...

Re: DRM error Shield TV
Windows and iOS updates are out now, Android requires additional work.
I am going to ask what I hope is not an embarrassing question. Cert expiration should be well known. Why does SD not have internal processes to update their cert(s) in advance of expiration? Did you RIF the people who ...

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified
Yes, Android would work IF there was a DRM solution for the SD tuners. There is not, and doesn't seen like there will ever be. Or IF so, it's still a long way out.
There is more to a solution than just widevine.support, although SD has suggested that Android platforms are likely to be among the ...

Re: Encryption
The last 8 years of my professional life before retiring in 2023 was with a marketing automation company (email service) as a product engagement manager. It is increasingly hard - and expensive - to maintain your reputation as a "good sender" and stay out of the spam boxes. As ISPs tighten ...

Re: Encryption
In general I'm not opposed to using social media for changelog updates. However, what I really want is to get an email notification when there is a new changelog entry. I don't want to have to keep checking in case there is an update. As far as I can tell, Bluesky doesn't support email ...

Re: Encryption
Broadcasters are required to carry at least one MPEG2 channel in at least 480i resolution with synchronized audio. AFAIK there is no requirement as to which service that be. I'm not aware of any direct prohibition on carrying a major network affiliation in AVC, but it might not go over so well if ...

Re: Encryption
ATSC 1 uses DVD-era encoding from 20 years ago. Wish they would have released something like ATSC 2.0 first, which would have switched to modern encoding to be more spectrum efficient, while still not supporting 4k, so the broadcasters can't throw a fit about DRM.
Broadcasters are allowed to ...
