VLC Media player

Post by SpencerC »

Hello All,

I used to use VLC Media player to open another channel on the same computer. I know the app has been updated to be allowed to be launched twice to achieve the same result, but I also use VLC media player as a troubleshooting tool. If the app is being glitchy, I can open the same channel using VLC media player to help determine if it is the app or not. I recently migrated my DVR computer to a new computer. I wrote down the URL to use to open a network stream with VLC media player and am guessing I wrote something down wrong. Can someone please confirm I have this right? I've confirmed the IP and can ping it from the same pc. The 720 in the url should open channel 720, I modify this number to open the desired channel. I've always used the transcode=heavy but I read someone say that part wasn't needed a long time ago, so I tried with and without. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

You need to use http rather than https and you need a / between auto and v.

Transcode will only do something if you are using an HDHomeRun EXTEND.

Thank you Sir! I knew I wrote something down wrong.

On another note, do you know of any tutorials or documentation on HDHomeRun Prime integration with Plex? I've got my Plex server to see the HDHomeRun and can tune in live tv. I haven't really looked into it much but would be interested in what options I can enable. Heck, I was literally half way across the world in Thailand and was able to stream live tv thru Plex to my phone.
