Watching while recording

I’m on an Apple TV. Since the new update I cannot watch the beginning of an episode while the episode is recording. When I select the recording it just takes me to live view. This worked in the old UI. How do I play the episode from the beginning. The right button menu doesn’t have an option to watch from the beginning.
