It seems that with a recent LG TV update, the HDHomeRun app can no long find the tuner. My laptop and phone, connected to the same access point, can find and connect without issue. My Plex server can use the tuner just fine too (but it's playback is frequently choppy, so I don't like to watch live TV through Plex).
I've tried all the troubleshooting tips that Gemini can offer, including connecting the TV to Ethernet. I've rebooting the HDHomeRun, the switch it's plugged into, the WiFi access point the TV is using, the TVs (I have two LG TVs and they both have the same issue), and even the whole house's router. The output from the TV is:
Version 20260908
Using webOS API (LG)
Discovering WebOS devices...
webOS Discover error
No local devices available.
No HDHomeRun devices found on the network; cannot continue
Anyone have an LG TV that's able to use HDHomeRun? Any ideas on things to try?
The main TV is a OLED65C2PUA running 43.21.74 and LG webOS 11.2.0-3704 with about 1.44GB of it's 2.69GB of storage free. The HDHomeRun is a Connect Quatro HDHR5-4US running firmware 20260326.
Thanks!

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
I have an LG G3 (as well as a C4) - neither one of these sets can i find a HDHome run app
i have to go to "inputs" and they tuners show up there... when did the app become available on LG TV's?

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
The app has been around ever since we got the C4 (which has to have been at least two years ago), available from the LG app store. We even uninstalled/reinstalled it, so it still shows in the app store for us. It's icon looks exactly like the forum's green square with the HD logo in green on a black rectangle inside that square.
I'll check for inputs and see if I can find it there, that might be a workaround.

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
I’m on my C4 with the apps on my television right now
And I am not able to bring it up using HD home run or any of that kind of search terms
or are you doing this on a PC somehow?
How often do you update your TVs? Maybe a update wiped the app away and that also may be causing you issues if the app is out of date.

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
It looks like my TV came out March of 2022.
According to that info link, "Some of the higher end US models from 2022 might allow for installation." so I'm guessing mine falls into that category. While I have the app, it doesn't work anymore.
I'll have to see if I can get DNLA streaming to work.
I have it set to auto updates, not doing anything with a Mac or PC, and it has the latest software with no more updates available from LG. The app is still there for me, but apparently not for everyone. It's not working anyway, so I'll have to try DNLA.

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
Best of luck to you… It’s better than nothing but far from the full functionality
Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
If the TV has been able to use the HDHomeRun app before, then it will still be supported. The wifi access point might be the issue. Make sure it's still in bridge mode.
Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
That's the thing that's so annoying, nothing in my setup has changed. I've rebooted the switch the HDHomeRun is plugged into, I've rebooted the HDHomeRun, I've rebooted the TV, and all the access points. That fixed it once, but I suspect that "fix" was more "bugs that mysteriously disappear, mysteriously reappear". Rebooting everything, and switching the TV to wired Ethernet didn't help. Every other device in the house, laptops, phones, Firesticks, all can find the HDHomeRun just fine, it's only the LG TV app that can't.NedS wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 9:33 pm If the TV has been able to use the HDHomeRun app before, then it will still be supported. However, I was able to use it as a DNLA device, so while that interface is clunky and nowhere near as good as the HDHomeRun's interface, it works. If it gets too frustrating, I'll just plug in a spare Firestick and be disappointed in LG.
Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
is there any plan to get a working app onto LG TV's? - or is this a permanent roadblock with their type of coding and such?

Re: LG TV can't find HDHomeRun
There is an app... it is up to lg to approve offering it based on model. Front what I heard, LG changed some code that caused their player to not always display captions/subtitles correctly so a few years ago stopped adding the app to later models but the issue is with lg's player not the hdhomerun app. I got a "generic" webos tv that uses lg's app store and it had no problem but an update to it killed ac-4 so limited to atsc1.
