Hd 4k flex ATSC 3.0 shutter with play back

Post by geriakt »

I am getting video shutter with non DRM ATSC 3.0 channels using the HD player app on Windows 11Pro (Hevc plug in installed from MS) as well as on the Android HD player app. When using Sparkle TV app on Android for tuning in ATSC 3.0 the play back has no shutter and place AC4 audio.
What can be the cause and the fix in the HD apps? I assume both apps use different players within the app.

We would like to get some diagnostic data to see what is happening:
  1. In a web browser go to http://hdhomerun.local
NOTE: That address will go do the first HDHomeRun device found on your network. If you have more than one HDHomeRun device, use the "device ID" printed on the bottom of the unit instead of "hdhomerun" in the address. For example, if your device ID was 104FFFFF then you would go to http://104fffff.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click "System Menu"
  4. Check the "Send diagnostic information" box (if this box is already checked, please un-check then re-check it)
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click "Channel Lineup"
  7. Click on "Detect Channels"
  8. After the scan finishes, open the HDHomeRun app on Windows
  9. Go into the app settings: the gear icon in the top right corner of the "Live/Recorded/Discover/Tasks" page
  10. Enable the option to "Send diagnostic information"
  11. Watch a problem channel for at least 10 minutes
  12. Repeat the enabling of data in the Android app and the watching for 10 minutes
Reply back and provide us the device ID of your HDHomeRun and we will check the logs. You can find the device ID on a label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun itself.

I will work on this to help determine why my ATSC 3.0 non encrypted OTA produces a slight shutter on my Amlogic s905y4 Android 11 STB while using the HD player and why it does not using Sparkle TV player on the same device.

I will also check if the same issue is seen on Windows 11pro with the MS HEVC add on.

One think I would like to point out is I found in the Sparkle TV player a setting for shutter when using an Amlogic SoC. I currently have that option on in the Sparkle TV player.

I haven't been able to duplicate this shutter so for now let's just consider this closed.
