I can't find my most recent recording on my computer

Post by NatHillIV »

I recently recorded an ATSC 3.0 (non-DRM of course) broadcast. It plays back perfectly, sound and all. Shows up in the HDHomeRun app along with every other recording I have recorded in the past. They also still play just fine.
BUT, I can not find the most recent recording in the same location in my computer that every other recorded show is found in. I checked, and all the others are where they have always been.
I was just curious about what VLC might tell me about how an ATSC 3.o broadcast is stored. Any ideas what's going on? Where is the new recording hiding? :D

You have a Windows PC DVR, and a SCRIBE, so it's got to be one or the other of those.

See if you see it listed on the SCRIBE: http://15303F39.local

Bad News.
I plugged my Servio back in, and as expected, the video file isn't there. Or at least I can't see it. Pretty sure it wasn't plugged in when I recorded the program.
And I can't find it in my computer's specified location either. I am certain the recorded video belongs on my computer's "D:/HDHomerun recorded videos/"

edit:
I just recorded a pair of shows, one ATSC 3.0, the other ATSC 2.0. Both recorded and play back perfectly in the HDHomeRun app.
And this is from the 20260718.log found in the "landing zone" D:/HDHomerun recorded videos/....
20260718-12:34:29 Recorded: directory D:\HDHomeRun recorded videos\ with 15 subdirs and 0 recordings
The recorded videos do NOT show up there.
It's probably something I've done. I can pretty well screw up a rock fight.
There's no chance those files are somewhere in the cloud and NOT on my computer is there?

No big hurry on a response. It's working fine, just curious as to why I can't find those files in the designated location on my hard drive.

You have two Windows DVRs running, one on 192.168.1.117 and one on 192.168.1.163.

INDEED I DO. It's a long story, but for some reason I have used the same location for Silicon Dust recordings on two computers in order to keep them backed up. Somehow the .163 is no longer an exact mirror of the .117, and as a result the newer recordings are showing up only on the .117 "back up" computer.
Anyway, I'm able to find all the recordings now. Well done!

One QUICK question. A VLC playback attempt of the file shows it to be HEVC (H.265). That's neat, but the audio doesn't play. I ASSUME that because of the stupid new ATSC 3.0 audio format, you guys have to magically fix the file to get it to play with sound. It plays just fine when played through the HDHomeRun apps scattered everywhere in my house .

THANKS SO MUCH. The 4K tuner works great with the new power supply you figured out I needed, and you have fixed me up once again.
I will try to leave you all alone for a few years! :D
