I updated my HDHomeRun client for Windows 11 from the Microsoft Store today because the old version was complaining about (unneeded) parental controls. The new version 1.1.491.0 runs great, but there is no icon on the taskbar when running or if I pin the app to the taskbar. The app creates a blank position on the taskbar that I can click, but now there is no identifying icon. Nothing changes if I restart the computer.
I appreciate any suggestions to fix this issue. My only other option is a complete uninstall/re-install, but I'd like to avoid going through the whole configuration process.
No app icon for taskbar?
Re: No app icon for taskbar?
I am not seeing any issues with the icon here on the latest app on Win11. Have you tried doing a reset on the app or uninstalling and reinstalling from the Store? There isn't much configuration that is saved for the app, just the handful of things like the audio format and starting screen.

Re: No app icon for taskbar?
A desktop shortcut to the app displayed the icon, and I could pin it to the Start menu with an icon, but there was no icon on the taskbar. A right-click on the blank space gave me the option to Unpin the app, but it would not actually remove the space, and a right-click on the desktop shortcut also still offered Unpin from taskbar. I tried multiple methods to rebuild the icon cache; none helped.
I found several entries in the registry to .png files which had names including HDHomeRunDVR_1.1.355.0, though the app was supposed to be v1.1.491.0.
Ultimately, I uninstalled the app with Revo Uninstaller to remove the app and all entries left behind, deleted my entire taskbar from the registry, verified that no HDHomeRun entries remained in the registry, and reinstalled the setup, GUI, and app. Now the icon appears in the taskbar as expected, and it can be unpinned.
The app Settings page is now reporting Version 20260629(App)/20260702(UI), the day after I updated and discovered the problem. Apparently there was a later update.
