The new Roku App version is buggy

Post by tjp »

Since my Roku Ultra received the 20260626 update the HDHomerun app is very buggy and sluggish.
First off, the app's overall performance with this update is noticeably slower. The initial splash screen doesn't even appear for several seconds. Then the guide comes up with a blank grid for several seconds and then gets populated. About 50% of the time when I select a show from the grid I get a stuck progress bar. It seems to happen more often with ATSC3.0 stations. I've enabled the app to upload logs. Maybe you can see something.
Rebooting the Roku Ultra didn't help.
The HDHR app still works fine in Windows and Android.

I have 2 model 4850X Ultras.
I just ran the HDHR app on the other one and got this error window popup before the splash screen. After clicking OK, the app opened up ok

I closed the app and ran it again and got this different error window.

Can you power cycle the Rokus then see if you continue to get the error? Note that it may show up the very first time opening after the reboot, but the question is if it continues the second time and beyond.

I should have tried power cycling before posting. Yeah, that got rid of the error popup.
However this 4850X Roku is still exhibiting the same behavior as my other one. The app is much slower and sluggish than the previous version. I still get the occasional stuck progress bar when selecting a channel from the guide. This happens almost always on a ATSC3.0 (no DRM of course) station and occasionally on an ATSC1.0 station.
In Windows and on my nVidia Shield the HDHR app works fine.
