WEB app functions and instructions?

Hello,

I have a Flex Duo which I can connect to with a web browser, which tells me:

Under this there are 4 links, one named "Channel Lineup". Selecting it displays a page of channels as 3 columns, where the second is the virtual channel number. This is also a link.

Selecting this link opens a browser download dialog window. Saving the file starts a download of an mpeg file which I assume is the current program for the channel.

There is no obvious way stop and save the recording. Closing the window leaves the download active while trying to exit the browser warns the download would be cancelled.

Cancelling at least stopped the download but also deleted all files.

So: What is being recorded? How do you stop/pause/restart the recording?

That "download" is the TV channel being streamed in realtime. In the absence of an appropriate mime type, your browser is trying to save it as a file.

If you copy-paste that URL into a media player instead, such as VLC, it will stream the channel to the player and you can watch it.

If you actually want to record content, you'll need to set up a drive for DVR use.

My apologies for lack of clarity.

I have a WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra with DVR installed and cofigured. I also have figured out, based on another post to this forum, how to create a network path for VLC to use to stream. These all work to play and record.

I am trying to figure out the uses and features of the web app, to help with looking into something else, and discovered these links.

The question is what are they for if you can't save the download directly?

The URLs can be copy/pasted into other apps. You can do even more things with the URLs when you apply some other parameters: https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/http_api

Once upon a time you could even have a VLC browser plug-in that would play the live channel, but I don't think that's maintained anymore.
