I was never certain this was the case, but always suspected that there might be scanning for new channels in the background.
Could thenHD Homerun app notify me of it discovering new channels in the background scan and notify me of what they are?

Are you talking about the HDHomerun App notifying you?
I am using ChannelsDVR and can at least see the channel number count.
Say like I see its at 122 channel, if I see 124 I know two channels are added.
But in the HDHomerun App in setting under channels it doesn't even show channel count there. So I can see where you’re going asking for notification.
But I think even a simple channel count that you can see outside of the webpage "http://hdhomerun.local/lineup.html" would be helpful.
For now the only place If your just using the HDHomeRun app is the webpage not in the app.
Although I a new on the user forum here I have been using the HDHomeRun for years.
Not sure if Silicondust has a user request area, but they may be the place to ask.
