Flex 4K Won't Detect All Channels - turtleboy

Post by turtleboyf@gmail.com »

Hello, I recently updated my HDHomeRun Flex4k firmware to 20260326 and now when I do a channel scan i'm only picking up on two channels. I went and got my old HDHomerun Dual out of the closet and attached it to the exact same antenna with exact same wires and I'm detecting over 22 channels and they all tune in just fine. For the past few years my Flex 4K seemed to have better reception than my dual and detected far more channels as well. Anyone know why all of a sudden my Flex4k stopped detecting my channels? Seems related to firmware update but maybe a coincidence?

The firmware does not affect reception.

Can you please enable "send diagnostic information" in the settings menu of the HDHomeRun app, then run a channel scan. Once complete please post back with the Device ID of your HDHomeRun and I will take a look.

It looks like a hardware fault. Drop a quick email to support and they will help... it will need to be returned so we can repair or replace.

thanks for checking; any possibility that my firmware update is what caused my hardware issue? I think I was a year or two out of date for my updates and then when I updated the other night that's what seemed to have set off this chain of events. Either way, I submitted a support ticket; hopefully they can take care of me. I really appreciate the super quick answers here tonight.

No, not related to the firmware update.

Firmware updates trigger a reboot, and it's the reboot that is what normally pushes a failing component over the edge. If power in your location is stable, then the firmware updates might be the only time the HDHomeRun actually reboots for most of its life.

Checking, did you reach out to support and have they arranged for it to be returned for repair?

Yep - got my free replacement unit yesterday, plugged it in and everything is working as it should with all the channels I had before. Thanks! I'll ensure in the future I'm frugal with any power cycling just as a precaution.

Great to hear it has been sorted.

If you didn't return the old power adapter please throw it out - do not use it with the new HDHomeRun just in case the old power adapter is failing and contributed to the problem.
