External Hard Drive Size

Post by StevenW »

Hi;
Can someone tell me what is the maximum HD size you can connect to a HD Homerun ?
Has anyone had issue with accessing the recordings on their external HD ?

Thanks

If the hard drive is 18TB or larger the HDHomeRun will use the first 17.6TB of space.

No problem if the drive is larger than 18TB but going larger won't provide additional usable space.

The external drive gets formatted using a Linux filesystem called XFS. It cannot be natively accessed from Windows or macOS, but there are options for accessing it without having a full Linux PC:
  • Individual recordings can be downloaded from the web interface
  • A PC can be booted to a Linux live USB stick (e.g. Ubuntu)
  • The drive can be mounted via WSL on a Windows PC
  • The drive can be passed through to a Linux VM running on a Windows PC or Mac

Thanks for the information, very helpful ....
I'm new to HD Homerun, if I understand correctly there is a yearly fee to record content, correct ?
Is there a lifetime option ?

Has the issue with ATSC 3.0 Encryption been addressed with the HD Homerun yet ?

Thanks for all the help
