Roku hopeless

Post by cqcq42 »

I guess I have to give up using the HDHomeRun app on Roku. Almost all shows stop with a malformed data error. Sometimes a show won’t playback at all. If I try projecting to the TV on my iPad then I run into the problem I previously reported about trying to skip commercials. I hate the FireTV, but at least the HDHR works.

Roku - checking what you mean... does it start playing ok, but at some point playback stops with a malformed data error?

iPad - I am not following. Can you please explain the issue or point to where you previously reported.

I am experiencing the same issues on multiple older Roku devices. Playback usually stops within the first few minutes using the HD app. This happens with my Roku TV's and also my streaming sticks. I do not have this issue with any of my google tv's.

Sometimes a show will not even start - just a black screen. When it does start, I could get the malformed data error at any point.
The iOS problem was described here:

Watching...

I'm investigating for purchase. But Roku problems could be a show stopper.

Not sure if the company provides support here or if it's user support.

We provide support her, plus email support, phone-callback support (talk to a real person, our support staff are local and are HDHomeRun users).

Roku does not like reception glitches. If you have good signal Roku works. If you have poor reception then other player platforms handle it much better.
Also we just confirmed a Roku bug causing playback issues for some customers - a new app release will be out latest this week.
