Recording on Roku

Post by saml45 »

Setup Flex Duo yesterday. Everything works correctly on my Android tablet and my phone.
On my Roku TV the guide and watching live TV works with no problems, and in the Tasks tab
shows the show what has been set to record.
I have setup and recorded shows on my tablet and they show up in the Recorded tab and play back.
However on the Roku app, they do not show up in the Recorded tab.
On the Roku app I can schedule shows to be recorded and they appear in the Task tab, but they
never actually record on the Roku.
I can select a show to record that is currently playing and the red record button indicates it is
recording but no recording ever appears on the Roku or the Android tablet.
Any help would be appreciated.

The same issue started for me yesterday. I have an HDFX-4K that I use via Apple apps as well as a Roku Streaming Stick 4K. The Roku no longer shows any recordings (the screen is blank except for the top menu line), whereas my iOS devices all show my recordings and can play them easily. I tried powering off the HDFX and the Roku, as well as deleting and re-installing the HD HomeRun app on the Roku, but the Recorded menu is still empty on the Roku and visible on iOS. I tried a new recording to see if the problem was just my old recordings, but the new recording isn't visible on the Roku app either.

Yep, what new fun change did we make.

All Roku devices no longer show the recordings. Tested with my Android tablet and all the recordings are there. They play fine.

Everything used to work last week.

Rebooted the HDHomeRun and it is not that. Some code update missed the mark. I hope they are looking at it.

Yeah, same here. Playbacks worked fine last week on Roku's HD app then mysteriously all Recordings vanished a few days ago. I confirmed all recorded programs are still in there when I look in the iOS app.

One thing I noticed that's different: the iOS app shows my memory device (1TB USB memory stick) attached to my Flex 4K, but Roku's HD app does not. Rebooting/power-cycling/app-reinstalling did not help.

I talked to a tech from Silicondust this afternoon and they are aware of the problem and hope to have it fixed in short order.

An update was submitted to Roku and should go live Tuesday based on their normal approval timeframes.

In addition to above, the Settings do not show the version and do not show the word Settings. Only items that display are Devices, Starting Page and Send diagnostic information.

The update lets you view and play what has been recorded already, but you still can't record anything with the Roku app.

You can schedule recordings with the Roku app.

Can you please walk me through the steps you are doing on Roku to schedule a recording and explain what step doesn't work...

The steps to schedule a recording work, it just never records. I set it to record a currently playing show and the following show. This showed up in the tasks tab. But when the recording time was up, they did not appear in the recorded tab.
As evidence it was not recording,in the 10 minute overlap between the shows, I should not been able to tune in another channel because both tuners would have been in use. But I could.
And, when you schedule a recording the little red recording button never appears in the guide or tasks tabs.
Also something else that never shows up is when you press the select button during a playing show, it shows the mini guide on the right, but you don't get the bar across the bottom listing the different actions you can take, such as record.

The UI provides multiple ways to set a recording and I am trying to understand what steps or which mechanism you used to do it so I can reproduce here.

While show is playing, press select button, mini guide appears on right side, press select button on show that is playing, press right button and it will open it larger, press select button and menu will open to record.
All the other apps have a bar that opens on the bottom of the screen with a red button to choose to record, but this does not show that bar.
