Deleting Series Recordings

Post by DaveR849 »

Newbie question:
I know how to delete individual recordings. Is there a way to delete an entire series from the DVR library? When recording a long running series (e g. "Blue Bloods", "NCIS et.al." you can end up with recordings numbering in the hundreds. I can foresee a time when I might need free a larger segment of storage space.

Not yet... we plan to add this feature once the current guide UI upgrades are complete.

Hi Nick - could you also please add the ability to limit the number of recordings for a show? Old recordings would be removed automatically. Also, some kind of notification in the app when the disk is full and recordings are failing. Thank you very much.

Is there a public feature request for this ?

I would like to watch for it and get alerted when it is done.

Here's the method I use with my HDHomeRun Prime:
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder where the HDHR recordings are stored. You'll find the name of the program as a folder - open it and then see all the episodes that are stored. I highlight the top of the stack and then scroll to the bottom - hold the shift key and then click on the last to be deleted. Then hit delete! I leave the name of the program folder even if I may not record on it again. I don't know if deleting the folder also will cause problems, but I've been doing it this way for years without problem. It sure saves a lot of time and effort.

It is safe to delete the folder as well - it will be re-created automatically if another recording is made.

Also note that when you delete a recorded file the DVR will record the same episode again if it airs.
