HDHomerun Flex duo transcoding or upscaling

Post by ZeparatedOut »

Hi,

I've owned a HDHomerun Flex duo for 2 years now and I really love it (I'll eventually move to a quattro)!

I would like to know if by default the HDHomerun Flex Duo do any trancoding or upscaling or if the PVR records just the raw signal?

If transcoding or upscaling is done, is there a way to prevent the PVR from doing it?

Thanks a lot in advance for the help!

The only HDHR device that does any transcoding is the old Extend... the DVR would use whatever default transcoding you had set on the device... the duo and quatro essentially simply pass the bits the station puts out.

The PVR records the unmodified broadcast feed without loss.

Your player device does the up-conversion to your screen - both resolution and framerate. If your player device doesn't support 1080i to 1080p up-conversion the HDHomeRun app does it.
