ATSC 3.0 disappeared

Post by jimtuma01 »

I recently installed the 20250815 firmware on my Flex 4K and decided to run a new channel scan. The previous scan showed ATSC 3.0 signals from WKAR in Lansing MI, as well as from several Grand Rapids stations but the scan after installing the 20250815 firmware does not show any 3.0 signals. Granted, I was never able to get usable 3.0 signals - only low signal strength messages - but the Channel Lineup in Config GUI did show the 3.0 signals and I get very strong 1.0 signals on these channels. With all the controversy over 3.0 I don't know if the stations are still putting out those signals, but does anyone else have this situation? Thanks in advance for all replies.

We would like to get some diagnostic data:
  1. Please go to http://hdhomerun.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click System Status
  4. Check the Send diagnostic information box
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click Channel Lineup
  7. Click on Detect Channels

Reply back to this post and provide us the device ID of your HDHomeRun and we will check the logs. You can find the device ID on a label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun itself.

Device ID is 10A5E45E. Firmware is 20250815. FWIW, I contacted WKAR and as of 9/19/25 they are no longer broadcasting 3.0. However I should get 3.0 from some Grand Rapids channels and I did not. Thank you for looking into this.

The 3.0 broadcasts in the Grand Rapids market are on low-power stations on short towers. The coverage area for the eastern one is only about 15-20 miles from the tower, which is SW of Middleville. If you live east of M-66, you're unlikely to receive it.

I'm about 15 miles east of M-66 so, yes, I wouldn't be able to receive the Grand Rapids 3.0 stations. There are also hills on both sides of M-66 that would diminish the signal in this direction. Thank you for looking into this.
