Hi, I have a new HDHR Flex 4K I bought early 2024, so I want to try it on my existing network that already has a HDHR Quattro. Also, I want to make sure it works ok and get the firmware up to date.
Option 1 - can I try just disconnecting the HDHR Quattro and then replace with the Flex 4K? If so, will the Channel subscription info and DVR service I have still work or would I have to change some registration? My HDHR DVR runs on a WD Mycloud PR4100.
or
Option 2 - add the Flex 4k with a cable splitter and connect it also to the LAN. How does the Quattro and Flex decide what channels to provide to the HDHR app?
Will the DVR and Channel subscription info automatically use either of the Quattro and Flex boxes?

Re: Installing HDHR Flex 4K also with Quattro
For the official apps, its easiest to add with both as when you launch the app it will associate the new device with the HDHomeRun DVR subscription with the already subscribed device when you launch the app (at least with most platforms).
Not sure what you mean by Channel subscription (was that a reference to "Channels" from getchannels.com)?

Re: Installing HDHR Flex 4K also with Quattro
When you add a new HDHomeRun unit to a network that already has an existing HDHomeRun unit, then the app will prompt you to add that new HDHomeRun to your DVR subscription. Then you can either remove the old HDHomeRun unit (the app will prompt you again about the removal of a unit from the DVR subscription), or just keep using both. I would use both, though. Why not, right? The DVR will consolidate the tuners together, and will know when to use the FLEX 4K for ATSC 3.0 channels, or when it can use any of the available ATSC 1.0 tuners from either HDHomeRun unit.
You can also re-run the activation in the HDHomeRun app (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows) through Settings -> Account.
One DVR subscription will cover any number of supported (gen 4 or later + cable-specific products) HDHomeRun units you have on your local network.

Re: Installing HDHR Flex 4K also with Quattro
I will try adding the Flex 4K to the existing network with the Quattro.
Maybe it will pick up some extra channels.
I am wondering if a few of the channels that are choppy will come in stronger with the Flex 4K also.
Thanks for your advice!

Re: Installing HDHR Flex 4K also with Quattro
Hi, I added the Flex 4K and upgraded the firmware. Unfortunately, some of my channels even channel 2 are still not getting clear reception. Signal strength consistently shows 100 percent but the Signal Quality ranges anywhere from 64 percent to 100 percent and the Symbol quality anywhere from 0 to 100 percent.
Channels that I was using fine for years since I first purchased the Quattro have been starting to be choppy about 6 moths ago, so I am not sure what changed.
Maybe more cell tower interference or the broadcasters changed something.
I do have also installed (for years) the HDHR cell filter adapter installed and I have an amplifier from the provided Antop antenna.
I wonder if I should try to turn off or disconnect one of these.
