IP TV support

Post by jeffdafoe »

I was just thinking it might be nice if HDHomeRun supported IP TV. The implementation would be where I could add m3u entries from something like https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv/tree/master/streams and assign them channel names.

Or pretty much any PVR most support the HDHR and IPTV these days.

The majority of those m3u entries are not authorized by the content owners (I had this discussion with a different solution provider many years ago). I doubt SD (as a commercial entity) wants to look at potential contributory infringement lawsuits (could they win? could they lose? No idea, but it is typically not the approach a commercial lawyer will suggest is a good lawsuit to be in, as if could end up being business ending). That said, there was a 3rd party solution I recall seeing that used to offer a m3u to hdhr emulator that individuals could operate (and wait for any infringement claims to appear).

Makes sense, thanks everyone for the responses.
