Create/Edit tasks to change recording options?

I seem to have lost the ability to edit tasks. I also can't seem to find how to tell the system that I want all episodes to just the current season from the current selection which is "all Episodes".
Existing tasks (for shows from last season) have setting for those options, but I can't tell how to change them. Creating a new tasks doesn't show the option to change this setting.
I also don't see the place where I used to set the preferred source (channel) for the recordings. Actually I can't find any options.
Am I missing something?
BTW, I am using a Windows 11 client to setup tasks. Last I checked, maybe a week ago, the client is on the latest revision for the UI and my DVRs are as well.

The thing about setting/editing recordings in the app is having an upcoming episode to ensure you can change it... I believe you can do the same provided you also have an episode.

Click on an episode and there should be an auto record option (may need to move to episode and click or press right arrow (right) to see it... I'll be at a location i can use dpad remote later to verify on it, right now using phone/laptop) then change all seasons to current season (which is incorrectly named as it is really first aired in past 90 days which may or may not be the current season) and it toggles between the two. There are also the other editing options there.

On guide it will first be record more then you have the options.

I decided to delate a task that had all episodes set and recreate it. I did figure out how to setup a new taks for season 2 and was able to set the options correctly. Of course this process is all different than it was last year when I did this. But I got it sorted.
I guess the real question is how can I edit existing tasks?

The same way you make a new task, the "Record More" option will also edit an existing task for that selected show. You can do it from any episode from that show, including a recording, from the guide, or from the "Discover" tab.

One used to be able to edit a rule based on the rule... not having to rely on an episode be available to click on. As it is now in the app, from what i coukd tell, if one deleted all episodes and none are coming up in the next two weeks, there doesn't seem a way to edit the rule as there is no episode to click on. The rule has the SeriesID and/or the RecordingRuleID to create/modify the rule so having the series in the guide isn't necessary to do such modifications.

But in this case it is almost sounding like the person wants to edit the rule because they set current season and wants to record the next season... that is completely unnecessary.

Yes I want to be able to edit an existing task that was set to "all episodes" and I wanted current season episodes only. I did not want to record episodes from previous years, which it was doing.

I figured it out, but yes there must be an upcoming episode available to do it. If a task exists and there are no upcoming episodes listed I can't click/select on an episode to see the "auto record" to then select that get to the options for channel, current season, time before/time after.

Of course I had deleted all of the recordings from last year, so initially there was nothing to click so I could get to the options.

I swear there used to be a way to directly edit a task from the Tasks screen. But that is gone.

Once there was an upcoming episode to select I was able to get in and save the option to record only the single season.
For the ones that I deleted, I was able to search the show, once an upcoming episode was available I could setup the task correctly.

Was there indeed a qway to directly edit a tak previously without selecting an episode to do it?

Yes this is exactly what I was talking about. So why was this eliminated?

But if one does not have a recording, there is nothing in the guide, and nothing in discover, it seems that it is impossible. Which is what I was running into.

Ah, I got ya now. I'll bring it up with the dev team and see what they say.

I am pretty sure that there was once an edit function for existing tasks that allowed them to be directly edited without depending on first having access to any episode of a show at all.
This would be a nice feature to bring back. I have tasks that have been in place for several seasons. I delete recordings after viewing them. At the end of the season I have no recordings and often the shows aren't repeated for a period of time. As it is now, that leaves me with no option to edit the existing tasks.
