Hello,
I'm looking to buy a HDHomeRun as I loath the idea of running an arial cable to my TV. I have an LG C9 TV running 05.50.00. OLED55C9PLA.
I can't find the HDHomeRun App in the LG Content Store. I've read that HDHomeRun is having issues getting their app approved.
Is there any general advice around this? Is it being worked on, or is there a trick to make it work?
I don't want to use another piece of hardware, like a Roku etc, to make this solution work. I would just like the App on my LG TV.
Josh

Re: LG TV App Unavailable in Store
It is entirely on lg as to what they do in their app store. The best work around would probably be attaching an android box/stick if you wish to stick with the official apps but there are many apps that can connect properly, often including the built in DLNA features of a TV (with the modern tuners, legacy devices don't support dlna or http streaming).
The app should be available for some older TVs in the US (possibly Canada) but they didn't allow the app for most newer TVs or outside that region. The app is basically just a skin for its internal player and supposedly some were complaining about lack of (or intermittent) captions/subtitles with some streams. The HDHomeRun sends all the required bits of the stream that it receives including captions/subtitles and it is up to that internal player to process such correctly.

Re: LG TV App Unavailable in Store
Thanks for your help, that’s really helpful. DLNA sounds like an interesting solution to consider.
It’s a shame that I can’t find a YouTube video showing HDHomeRun + DLNA. If anyone is doing this on the forum, I’d love to see a clip
I’ll have a think and maybe I’ll bite the bullet and give it a go. If it works well for me, it would such a good solution.
