HDHR sees wrong HDD capacity, won't record
I have a 500GB external drive directly attached by USB. I am setup with the annual subscription, it sees the drive, and offers to record programs. The problem is that under 'Hardware' it sees the blank drive as "67.3% of 0.2TB used", right from the start. I have verified the capacity and ability to read/write to the drive on my PC, and reformatted it twice. Any idea how to fix this?
Re: HDHR sees wrong HDD capacity, won't record
Can you please enable "send diagnostic information" in the settings menu of the HDHomeRun app, then post back with the Device ID of your HDHomeRun...

The HDHomeRun sees it as a 500GB drive that needs formatting.
Can you please go to http://hdhomerun.local/ and click the Format button.

Re: HDHR sees wrong HDD capacity, won't record
OK, did that. That option was not there last time I looked, and there is nothing in the Android app that shows up to do it. Anyway, now that I have done it, the "http://hdhomerun.local/dvr.html" shows it as formatted and 500GB capacity. However, the Android app still shows the same "67.3% of 0.2TB used", even after restarting the phone. Is this going to be an issue, is it a bug?

What is the drive connected to?
Since nickk suggested formatting on the "device" I will assume there.
If that is the case, it would not have shown up on the android app either before or after the formatting and you probably have another engine running with that space somewhere (pc, mac, nas, or even an android device if configured to do so). Since you just formatted the drive there would be no recordings available so if you have any recordings (unless one was made between that format and now) that would be a sure sign that another engine is running.
Note: the flex formats the drive with xfs which requires a linux machine to read and write to the drive (i.e. the flex) so typically you wont be able to do anything with it on your pc (unless linux based).
Though an older engine may be around that wouldn't show up there, my suggestion would be to look at https://ipv6-api.hdhomerun.com/discover and https://ipv4-api.hdhomerun.com/discover as it might show you an additional engine somewhere and there should be links (or at least the url's depending on if your browser formats the json as such) that will take you to that engine. Note that for engines to show up there, a Storage ID must be available... some older engines and even some installations of modern engines may not have such (when a more modern engine first starts, it will create such if not present but some systems may not have the permissions to write such and as a result won't have one to be listed there but that would be fairly rare today). Though the engine should show up at one of those addresses, just because it isn't there doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

Re: HDHR sees wrong HDD capacity, won't record
The diagnostic information confirms that the drive formatted correctly reporting 499GB free space.
It looks like there may be a record engine running on your Android device which it shouldn't be doing.
In the HDHomeRun app go into Settings, Devices...
1) Check your FLEX, make sure it reports 500GB.
2) See if it reports HDHomeRun RECORD (second record engine) - if it does that is likely what you are seeing. I can help you turn it off.

Re: HDHR sees wrong HDD capacity, won't record
"Use this device for making recordings" on my Android app was turned ON. (I don't recall if I did that or what, all this is brand new to me as of yesterday.) I have turned it off, and now under devices it only shows the single device as FLEX DUO(0.0% of 0.5TB used). It is also recording as I type this.
It seems everything is working properly now, thanks!
