I have one of the HD Homerun recorders and the hard drive has failed.
It is junk or can the hard drive be replaced?
Hard Drive Fail
Re: Hard Drive Fail
You can replace the drive no problem. You can even go bigger with a 2TB hard drive.
Look for a 1TB or 2TB 2.5" hard drive that is 7mm tall (not 9.5mm, not 15mm). A normal hard drive is preferred over a SSD.
When disassembling be careful pealing off the heat transfer padding and apply the same way to the new drive. Do not cover the vent hole of the new drive.
If it is a completely new drive the HDHomeRun will initialize it automatically. If it has been used/formatted on a computer you will need to go to the HDHomeRun device webpage http://hdhomerun.local/ and click the format button.
