Currently running PRIME with RECORD storage on NVidia shield (2017) using external USB drive. I want to decommission the Shield and move entirely to LG Webos apps.
1. Is there a production LG HDHomeRun client (viewer) app? I can find a listing in the LG Content site, but I'm not seeing any link to install it.
2. I now want to host RECORD storage on an external USB drive connected to by Win 11 PC. Would it be possible to simply unplug the Shield's external drive and plug it into the Win 11 PC? If not, and I instead plug in a new USB drive to the Win 11 PC, is there a way to migrate the content from the old Shield drive to the new PC drive?
3. How do I configure the environment so that all my existing mobile devices no longer try to access the Shield drive but instead use the PC drive for viewing and recording?
4. If there is no LG WebOS HDHomeRun app, would moving to a Plex client on the LG and adding a Plex server to the Win 11 PC be a viable architecture that would support the existing mobile devices and the LG TV (2025 C5) simultaneously?

Re: Rehosting RECORD storage
There is an LG app but only in certain regions (i.e. US) and only if LG decides to allow your TV to install it (nothing in the past couple of years). My understanding the issue there is that LG discovered an issue with some captions/subtitles from some broadcasts... but the lg app essentially provides a link for its internal player to play it and its internal player is what needs to be fixed if that is indeed the reason for not allowing the app as the caption/subtitle information is there just as its in the broadcast
You might be able to move a drive from a shield to a pc depending on how formatted... typically one is looking to move a drive from a flex and that uses the xfs file system which isn't supported by windows. For windows install the full windows software package, run the set up program, and say to use this pc for recordings and specify the path to where you want to record.
There is no environmental changes to configure other than being in the same subnet.

Re: Rehosting RECORD storage
Depending on how the drive as added to the Shield, it might be encrypted and unreadable by other devices. I would transfer the files off of the Shield to another location/drive, then reformat the drive, then add the files back once you are set up on the new system. Off hand I'm not sure if you can still use the Shield's built-in SMB server for all files, or just certain directories. Let me get back to you on that.
Plex, Emby, and Jellyfin have WebOS clients.

Re: Rehosting RECORD storage
The RECORD rehost was a success. Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions as they definitely did help.
Process and issues:
* The Shield external USB drive is a Seagate 5TB formatted NTFS
* I was able to directly unplug the external drive from the Shield and plug it into a USB port of my Win 11 PC and complete HDHomeRun setup without reformatting
* HDHomeRun viewing (client) on the both the PC and the Shield were immediately able to access both old and new recordings. This surprised me because how recordings are written to storage between the two devices appears to be different. It is at least different in that RECORD on the PC writes more to the standard directory than what RECORD on the Shield does, as dvr recordings aren't visible in the NTFS directory if written by the Shield.
* Initially my Android client wasn't able to locate the new Win 11 DVR storage host. I restarted, and then re-installed the client without success. I then switched to 5Ghz WiFi and the Android device discovered the new Win 11 PC DVR storage. It may have been co-incidental that moving to the 5Ghz band was the actual issue, but with everything now working I decided to stop troubleshooting.
Now I'm on to phase II where I'll link the tuners and DVR storage to some client (e.g. Plex) available on LG webOS.
