I have a Quatro tuner and a WD Ext Utra 2-bay drive setup as the DVR. Recently, I am noticing issues where the tuner or DVR is not loading. Rebooting fixes the issue. This last time I rebooted the tuner first and still had an issue. Rebooted the NAS, and working fine again. I am having to do this more frequently. Both do not report individually any errors.
Anyway to determine which one is having the issue?
Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
First thing I would try is to update the DVR software on the NAS. It looks like you are running a version from 2021. Run through the installation steps and it will update, keeping all of the old recordings: https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/dvr:nas ... stallation
Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
I think I have accomplished this upgrade: It states I am running 20250603 (app) & 202508122 (UI)
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
Just be aware that what you reported has nothing to do with the dvr engine but only the app.
If you know the port of the dvr engine you can check it's version by pointing a browser to it.
If you dont know the port you should be able to find it from https://ipv6-api.hdhomerun.com/discover (or at ipv4...but that old of an engine might not register there (i believe the recent cut off was some version around then)
If I remember correctly from another thread you said you had a wd nas and typically the easiest way to install there is with the nas installer from the hdhomerun setup from the full windows software package (not app, and make sure you get the latest). Other nas brands may have other preferred ways to install but typically i dont suggest mixing install methods on the same nas so one should remember how it was installed.

Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
I used the IPV4 instead of IPV6 and did get some results.
Clicking on the BASEURL (I assume the port is 5000) gives me Version 20210624.
IF that means the year 2021, June 6 24th. How do I update what needs to be updated? I did run the installer again as mentioned above.

Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
the installer is not the app so if you can see live tv there and/or recordings that is the wrong place. The current version should be 20250815
when you install the full windows software package and run that, it installs (HDHomeRun) setup and you run that setup program.
Click on DVR and click NAS install. That is the typical way one would install on WD. I don't believe in mixing install methods as every now and then they may conflict with one another and fixing such can be a bit hard (especially if you end up getting 2 engines running and both reading the same config file and thus the same StorageID and possibly port if configured) ... an alternate way to install for WD is to download the appropriate WD package, and on the NAS's web page click Apps at the top and Install an App Manually on the left hand side (usually right below app store) but there are a few different WD packages SD has.
see https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/dvr:nas:wd:multiple which provides instructions for the regular NAS install as well as the more manual package installation. (assuming multiple disk WD Nas, I think you stated ultra, there is also a link for single drive units on that page, if it isn't a WD NAS you may wish to use a different method depending on what you used before)

Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
When I run it, it wants to login in as root and a password. For WD drives ssh username is sshd. Where it coming up with root.

The username is sshd or root depending on the model. If your model uses sshd as the username you should enter that.themusj wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 9:29 am When I run it, it wants to login in as root and a password. For WD drives ssh username is sshd. Where it coming up with root.
Re: Tuner or NAS DVR Unit - How to determine which is having issues?
Ok, here is what I get
Model: WDMyCloud
SSH Enabled: Ok
SSH Session: Ok
NAS Architecture: armv7l
NAS OS update needed - please update the NAS to OS5
SUCCESS
I did upgrade to OS5 and re-ran it with the above same results. So How do I know if I have the newest version of the DVR now?
ALSO, it does not show up in the MyCloud as an installed app. Does that make a difference? OS 3 to OS5 changed the apps that are available.
Update: Under Recorded it says, " Your HDHomeRun DVR wasn't found.
I think I see the problem. It sees under the HDHomeRun NAS Install my other single bay MyCloud. It is not seeing my newly updated MyCloud Ultra. (Which is what it has used for years now).
I just installed it manually and it sees it now. Have it set to record something at 2pm. How can I check the engine number now?

"the installer is not the app so if you can see live tv there and/or recordings that is the wrong place. The current version should be 20250815"
Your first sentence threw me off. So when I posted "Clicking on the BASEURL (I assume the port is 5000) gives me Version 20210624" that was actually indeed the firmware version I was running and not the app. I believe this is the case because when I ran the same link, I am now at HDHomeRun RECORD Version: 20250815.
Thank you for bearing with me on this. I have documented it now.
