New guide-centric UI approach
New guide-centric UI approach
New HDHomeRun UI update is out for most platforms. Apple TV will follow soon.
The UI has been updated to be more guide centric.
When you launch the app you can enter Live TV by pressing enter/select/ok, or can select a different channel.
Or you can set the Starting Page in Settings to have the app start in Live TV or Recorded if you prefer.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach
I like it on my TV but it's not very user friendly on my phone.
Re: New guide-centric UI approach
I much prefer the way it was before this change.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach
I like it but it hangs for a few sec on windows after the animation before the guide starts.
Re: New guide-centric UI approach
I'm just not sure how you justify taking away the LIVE tab on the top of the screen. It feels a lot like just changing things for the sake of changing them.
Re: New guide-centric UI approach
The name was changed because clicking it does something different to what it did before.
It also helps avoid confusion with the Starting Page setting.

The new UI on Amazon firestick is very clumsy, have to scroll through the whole channel guide to get to the menu at the top to get to the recorded sbows and those other tabs. Then if I am on this screen and want to go back to live TV now i have to scroll all the way back down to whatever channel I want to watch instead of just going to the old "live" tab that is now "guide". For a Firestick user this new UI is really horrible

Press the back button to jump straight to the top menu. This works on all pages.Peterc wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 4:39 pm The new UI on Amazon firestick is very clumsy, have to scroll through the whole channel guide to get to the menu at the top to get to the recorded sbows and those other tabs. Pressing back from the top menu in Android is exiting when it shouldn't - we will get that fixed tomorrow.
UI update just went live that fixes a number of little quirks reported. We will likely have another update out tomorrow to knock out the last of the list.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach
I use my Flex 4K mostly on my Xbox Series X console. Since the UI update, I can not access Recorded, Discover, Tasks, or settings. I can only use the Xbox controller to move around the guide and access the guide channels that then take me to live TV. To be clear, I can see the Recorded, Discover, Tasks and Settings (gear icon) menu items and move the focus to them, but pushing the A button (or any button) does not open that feature.
I read in a similar thread that I should use the X button to remove the Guide focus so that I can access the other menu items, but that does not work. Essentially the thumbstick ( and rocker button) work for navigation movement, the A button for selection (except in the case of the aforementioned menu items) and the B button works for "return/back" and double tapping leaves the app. The X and Y buttons have no impact.
I can use the HDHomerun app on two PCs to access all menu items and change the settings to start the app with focus to something other than the Guide, if I so chose. However, this action is not available to me on the Xbox.
Any suggestions to get around this? Have any other Xbox users reported this?

Re: New guide-centric UI approach
What's a quick way to do what clicking on 'Live' used to do (take you to live broadcast on the last channel selected) with the new ui?
Thanks
Thanks

What platform are you on? If you are using a remote control...Bobstr wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 10:26 am What's a quick way to do what clicking on 'Live' used to do (take you to live broadcast on the last channel selected) with the new ui?
If you exit live tv, you can simply press select again to go back into live tv. ie fewer steps that previously.
If you have already switched to another page, you press Back to get to the top menu like normal, select Guide, and press select again - you will be in live tv. Bonus is that you can now see what is on and select a different channel with fewer steps.
Note that there is a bug where exiting live TV puts you in a different page if the app is set to start in Live TV. There will be an update later today that fixes this.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach
Sorry for not including which platform. I'm on a firestick, and its set to take me to the discover screen when we press the back button to exit live tv. I'll try the select button after leaving live tv tonightnickk wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 11:27 amWhat platform are you on?
