Ever since the introduction of BLUE/RED fire startup animation (version 20250607 ?) in the Android app, I have been experiencing the following startup issue on both Google TV and Fire TV.
After the BLUE/RED fire startup animation, the screen goes black. I cannot BACK ARROW out of the app. I have to hit the HOME button. I then have to open another app. I then exit that app, and re-open the HDHOMERUN app. After re-opening the app, it displays the HDHOMERUN device discovery process (successfully finds TUNER & DVR), and the app resumes normal operation.
I noticed a few notes in the changelog about fixes for startup issues in the past couple of releases, but I am still experiencing the issue described above.
I am currently running 20250627.

It is being worked on. Each update fixes some devices, but there are still a few causing problems.

Thanks. I still see this sporadically on my RockTek G2 (SEI804 series).jasonl wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 6:46 pm It is being worked on. Each update fixes some devices, but there are still a few causing problems.

Confirmed! I've been running 20250708 for the past few days and it has been working perfectly. Thanks!

The issue has not been fixed for me. I am getting a 15 second or so black screen on startup with two Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 units and a couple of Win 10 client setups (20250603). Which I just forced an update on. Now has the animation.nickk wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 11:58 am Fixed in app release 20250708:

I just installed the 20250708 update and it did not fix the issue. This is when setup to open with Live TV.

My recent experience:
I'm having these same symptoms on my Pixel 9 Pro right after it was updated to Android 16. Even with the latest SD update it is still behaving erratically at startup. I've tried deleting the app's cache and that sometimes works.
On all of my Android 15 devices and my nVidia Shield (2019), the HDHomerun app runs just fine.
Then there's the issue with running HDHomerun on a Roku device, but that's on another thread here.
