I've been using a Flex Duo and over the last week I've been getting "Your HDHomeRun DVR wasn't found" under the Recorded tab.
I originally had a USB thumb drive plugged in, but it was choppy with live TV and playback, so I replaced it with an old 1TB hard drive I had laying around, and things seemed to be working okay, however it would randomly show up "Your HDHomeRun DVR wasn't found" under the Recorded tab every couple of days or so. I hooked the drive into my Linux Mint machine and everything seemed to be operating fine. I then ordered a brand new 1TB external SSD to use (which comes tomorrow) just in case the old drive was going bad.
A few days later, the old 1TB hard drive stopped being recognized by the HDHomeRun, even after powering it off and back on after a minute, and same turning on and off the hard drive. The drive still shows up fine under Linux. I then tried formatting another old hard drive I had laying around and plugged it in, and I didn't have the option in the main menu (hdhomerun.local) to format it like I did originally with the 1TB. I then figured for troubleshooting I could plug that original thumb drive in to see if that was recognized, and it wasn't.
I'm really hoping it's just a coincidence that all three drives happen to have issues, and that this new 1TB coming tomorrow will miraculously start working, but I'm wondering if it could be a problem with the USB port itself? I've only had this for less than a month, so I can't see it having issues so soon.
Thanks for any insight or help!

Re: "Your HDHomeRun DVR wasn't found"
I see diagnostic data for your HDHomeRun unit today, and it doesn't show it detecting a USB connection. Have you tried plugging in the thumb drive today? Go ahead and open a support ticket and we'll arrange a replacement if needed: https://www.silicondust.com/contact/

Try power cycling the HDHomeRun. If the HDHomeRun is unable to fully clean up all HDD related resources after a drive is disconnected it may not be able to accept the next drive you plug in.
Also be sure to check the power draw of the 1TB USB SSD you purchased. If it exceeds the USB 3.0 max spec of 0.9A you may need to upgrade the power adapter used to power the HDHomeRun.

I tried the USB drive a couple of times today, and I tried swapping out the USB cable on the 1tb drive that had been working, but neither were recognized.NedS wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 12:17 pm I see diagnostic data for your HDHomeRun unit today, and it doesn't show it detecting a USB connection. Once the new drive arrives tomorrow, I'll report back either way on whether it was recognized or not. If not, I'll open a ticket to see if it can get fixed or replaced.
Thank you!
