no tuner detected

Post by helpful55 »

homerun connect tuner runs into a switch. One pc that gets the signal fine runs wired directly off that switch. Another gets its signal from a router (wirelessly or wired) that also is fed off the switch. The switch also feeds to a secondary router. I cannot get the tuner signal to feed through that router wired or wirelessly. And no nothing else is not working properly network wise. Could the secondary router have some kind of blocking going on in the settings?

One of the main purposes of a router is to block unwanted incoming WAN port traffic from getting to the LAN port(s). There are various ways to loosen the restrictions and allow some or all traffic thru to the LAN ports. Having more than one router in a home network is not typical, and requires an increased level of networking knowledge for it to be successful. Removing the secondary router would be the best choice; otherwise, you'll need to study up more on networking and how routers work.

Most routers will have something like a "bridge" mode that will basically turn it into a basic network switche, and you can enable that on your secondary router, to place everything on the same subnetwork.

A word of caution, though. Depending on what the purpose is for the secondary router, it might not be appropriate to enable bridge mode. For instance, if the OP is using the secondary router to isolate IOT devices from the rest of the network, enabling bridge mode would defeat the purpose. A guest network might be a similar situation. Granted, there are much better ways to provide IOT/guest networks...
