not sure if this helps, but I have an old Panasonic Viera TV with DLNA capability. I can view my full channel lineup when opening the "DLNA Server" app and navigate to one of the channels. All of them play fine except for the DRM ones - those display video but without audio. prior to the recent outage I was able to get audio on those.

So does this just end here with a, “we promise we’ll get to it at some point,” or is this being taken seriously at all?

Should we just turn in our cable cards already? We are renting them monthly.

With the current DRM issue, on Spectrum I can only watch about a dozen channels which are almost all local news and sports.

I might as well just rent another cable box.

For me, its a double whammy
Verizon just increased our FIOS ( Phonie/Internet/TV/Cable Card package cost AGAIN) which is now $210 a month!!
It's like the 3-4 th increase in the last 2 years.

That is $2500 a year !!!
We are lucky if we watch more than 10-12 channels,
Basic Home Phone
and Gigabit FIOS ( internet speed is the most important,. more so as more devices in our lives)

This, along with the loss of DRM channels again recently
We are being forced to look elsewhere..

to reduct costs
Elminate the DRM issues
and make life easier.

The DRM issues is not of Silicon Dust creation, but of Goolge
Putting the squeeze on other players, and drive out any potential competition.
As Google has been trying hard to grow their TV service business.

Silicon Dust may be in a very difficult situation, with the DRM aspects and Google having control of many aspects

Google should be broken up, No company should have any influenc, or contorl, DRM rights, or standards.
This is not digital democracy going on here it's Google strong arming.

Just like Microsoft forcing everyone into their Cloud Services
And also losing the ability to create local login accounts on one's Windows 11 computers.
One can only create a Cloud based Microsoft account that is tied to your local PC.

Miscroft should also be broken up

I think I have winded myself enough on this for now
😄

Overall I dont blame Silicon Dust
I blame Google

So give up on Android and my Shield TV boxes then...

HDHomeRun still plays DRM channels on Windows. I can get a NUC and install Windows 11 and the HD app. But what kind of remote would work for basic functions like channel up/down, volume, sleep/wake, restart, etc.

Has anyone got a cool setup they want to share? I've seen a few remotes but they don't have all the required functions. What can you get nowadays that would work like the old Windows Media Center?

Any way to avoid renting another cable box from Spectrum is much appreciated :D .

Dear SD engineers/employees,

I just need a yes or no answer; Do you ever intend on fixing this issue?? Or, should we all dispose of our Prime tuners and go back to the cable companies Set Top Boxes??
