Still having problems with multiple presses of FF causing skip to end of recordings

I've reported this before, and still seem to be having this problem:

Using my firestick max, When watching any recording, if I click FF more than once with the second key press occurring before the first FF action is completed (= before video *and* audio return to normal from the first keypress), the playback will jump to the end of the recording and stop.

This is easily repeatable for me and very frustrating...

We have so far not been able to reproduce this problem. Does it do it on every recording or only some recordings?

I can generally reproduce this at will on any recording pretty much all the time.

Generally, I press ff the second time somewhere between a few momements after the first press, up to somewhere near a full second after the first press and it will then jump to the end of the recording.

If I wait for the second press until the point where video and sound have just returned to normal, it never performs the jump to the end.

One of the times I brought this up in the past another user mentioned also seeing it, but I can't find that set of postings anymore.

Just in case this may help, this is on a firestick max that reports itself as 'fire tv stick 4k max (2nd gen), and i can reproduce the problem at will.

My seldom used bedroom tv has a 'fire tv stick 4k' and I can't get it to show this behavior so far.

Firmware / OS on both firesticks is current and I'm running the homerun version 20241016 (app), 20250430 (ui) with early access turned on. I've just turned on sending diag info on the offending unit.

Are you in the US watching ATSC1 antenna based TV?

Xfinity / Comcast cable in the Seattle area using 2 Prime tuners.

The record function is hosted on a windows server.

So I have had this problem before on an Android device (various, phones, Shield TV, tablet, etc), where fast forwarding or doing anything involving a lot of handshaking back and forth with the server will jump to the end of the recording, lose its place and force me to start over again. Every time this was an issue, it was related to poor network connectivity.

Can I suggest that you try swapping your two Fire Sticks just to see if it is a Fire Stick problem or a network/location issue? Usually, I reboot my router and I'm back and off to the races again, but that is just me.

(I'm just a user, but am invested in sharing what I've noticed)

Having same issue here. Consistently for quite a while. Happens when skipping through commercials and sometimes jumps to end just while viewing a recording. Usually recorded off Prime on FIOS cable. But happened off air also ATSC-1. Occurs almost every night of viewing. Have reported this before.

This happens to often when I try to FFW through commercials by quickly repeatedly pressing the FFW button on the remote. I've found that it does not happen if I more slowly press the FFW button on the remote (e.g. wait 2-3 seconds between each successive button press. )

I've got a flex Quatro and I'm using an Amazon Firestick lite with it running the silicone dust HD app from amazon's app store.

For people experiencing this, please enable "send diagnostic information" in the HDHomeRun app Settings menu, then when you next experience it skip to the end please post back with the Device ID of your HDHomeRun and the time it occurred.

Diags on. Tuners listed in profile. Playing FBI Most Wanted S6E20 recorded on channel 509 from FIOS on prime tuner. Playback jumped to end of recording at 8:15 pm EDT May 19th.

Did you seek or did it simply end during playback?

The log shows the record engine storing the resume point (normal) followed by the player reporting a recv data timeout.

Just jumped to end while playing back. No FF's in the case. Marked as played fully. Thanks.
