Freeze on Start Up

Post by HalifaxSteve1355 »

When i turn on my tv and HD Homerun, the channel displays with audio but shortly there after the picture freezes with not audio. Audio does come back the the picture remains frozen unless I change the channel. Then, if i change the channel, everything works as it should. So why is the pic freezing on start up. I am using a Nvidia Sheild TV into a Yamaha AVR connected with ARC. I am using an HD Homerun duol flex. I have two tvs one does this the other does not.

We would like to get some diagnostic data to see what is happening:
  1. In a web browser go to http://hdhomerun.local
NOTE: That address will go do the first HDHomeRun device found on your network. If you have more than one HDHomeRun device, use the "device ID" printed on the bottom of the unit instead of "hdhomerun" in the address. For example, if your device ID was 104FFFFF then you would go to http://104fffff.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click "System Menu"
  4. Check the "Send diagnostic information" box (if this box is already checked, please un-check then re-check it)
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click "Channel Lineup"
  7. Click on "Detect Channels"
  8. After the scan finishes, open the HDHomeRun app
  9. Go into the app settings: the gear icon in the top right corner of the "Live/Recorded/Discover/Tasks" page
  10. Enable the option to "Send diagnostic information"
  11. Reproduce the issue and let it keep playing audio with the frozen video for 5 minutes
Reply back and provide us the device ID of your HDHomeRun and the time the video froze and we will check the logs. You can find the device ID on a label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun itself.

It froze up at about 9:20AM EST. At about the 4:45 minute mark the pic came back with sound. I got out of the app then back in and all seems fine now. Thanks JasonL

I spoke to soon. I turned on the tv around 5PM EST and the same issue. Channel vid froze, audio came back but choppy. It corrected itself - vid came back with audio about 5 minutes later.

I'm only seeing logs from the HDHomeRun device, not the app. The device side doesn't indicate any issues at those times, which makes sense as the symptoms are most likely to be related to playback. Please double check and make sure the Send diagnostic information option is enabled in the HDHomeRun app.
