3D-Printed Box with Fan For HomeRun

Post by Mzip »

Not a future product. Just something to neaten up an install…

I’m new to the HomeRun devices but very impressed. I went with an SSD for DVR functionality and it was a little bit of a rat’s nest so I drew up a box to put the bits in, provide cooling, and wall mount it all. Since the SSD required more power than the HomeRun can supply, I used a powered hub for both the SSD and the fan.

The box and parts were printed on a Bambu 3D printer and the file and photos are at the link. It’s not quite 600g of plastic. I’m not selling these. If anyone wants one but doesn’t have a 3D printer, there are a number of 3D print service houses out there who can print one for you for. The file is a free download at the Bambu site. The file is a 3mf format (a zip file) with the stl files inside. I can provide just the stl files if anyone needs them instead. If anyone needs a different SSD or spinner tray, let me know the drive model and I can add a tray that fits it… hopefully. 😁

It really tidies it all up and the air temperature in the box is running just 2-3F above ambient. Not visible in the photos is I switched to a Noctua USB-powered 5V fan. The one used in the photos was a little loud.
