No volume on Roku

I am going to preface this with: yes, I have already hit * and turned volume mode off. It's off, and yet every time I load HDhomerun it tells me to turn it off. And every time it is already off. I have tried setting Roku to auto, Dolby, and DTS, none of those make a difference. I have factory reset the Roku and reinstalled everything. Nothing. This app used to work until a few months back, maybe sometime last year. Now it is just no volume, and error messages telling me to set things to what they are already set to.
Has anyone else had this? Any insight on how to fix this?

Is the Roku connected directly to your TV via HDMI using the speakers built into the TV?

What make and model of TV?
