HDHomeRun DVR Setup for UGREEN NAS

Post by ExplodingSidewalk »

I have a UGREEN NAS DXP4800Pro and a HDHomeRun FLEX 4K. I would like to record my shows and movies to my UGREEN NAS but, after setting up a Docker Container and changing the appropiate setting on my UGREEN NAS, HDHomeRun still does not recognize the NAS.

Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to set this up correctly?

When I go into HDHomeRun Setup / DVR Tab / NAS Install my UGREEN NAS does not show up. My Router and my two Synology NAS show up but, not the UGREEN.

Thanks for the help.

My suggestion would be to use the docker container package...

For the nas installer to see the nas, it has to be discoverable via upnp... typically this means you must have a dlna server running on the nas but these days many such packages are run in containers that may not allow ssh into the discovered address. Personally I wouldn't use the nas installer and stick with the docker install.

So, how does the HDHomeRun App know which NAS to record shows and movies to? At this time the HDHomeRun App is pointing to my Synology NAS.

it doesn't... any record engine can record, typically it is the one with the most free space

When on a NAS or PC, you can control how many streams that engine can record (in the config file for linux based such as NAS, registry for windows) by setting its RecordStreamsMax value (set to 0 to not record there but it can still serve recordings it has see https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/dvr:adv ... nf_options )
