DRM error Shield TV
Re: DRM error Shield TV
Windows and iOS updates are out now, Android requires additional work.
Re: DRM error Shield TV
I am going to ask what I hope is not an embarrassing question. Cert expiration should be well known. Why does SD not have internal processes to update their cert(s) in advance of expiration? Did you RIF the people who worried about this (I once worked at an org that did exactly that; RIF'ed the person who dealt with such things; It resulted in some publicly visible embarrassment).jasonl wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 4:11 pm Windows and iOS updates are out now, Android requires additional work.
Re: DRM error Shield TV
The problem is not a cert expiring. The problem is the validation of the Android system that needs to happen when renewing the certificate.
CableCARD DRM channels work on Windows, XBox, and iPhone/iPad with the new certificates.

Re: DRM error Shield TV
I swear this happens every year around college basketball conference tournament time.
How soon will this be fixed? It really doesn't matter to me if I can watch DRM channels 345/365 days per year (roughly 95% availability) if it isn't possible to watch programming on the 20 or so days when I actually want to watch...

Hi nickk, when can we expect a new certificate for Androids since you mentioned all other platforms working. I’m sure most of your users here use Android such as Shield, Onn, Samsung tablets, etc. Hoping soon! It was working flawless for 6+ months on Android.nickk wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:54 am The problem is not a cert expiring. Re: DRM error Shield TV
So this is very strange for me. I have 3 shield devices; 2 pro versions that are connected via ethernet and 1 non-pro/tube version that is connected via wifi. The 2 pro versions cannot play DRM channels, however the non-pro/tube version CAN play DRM channels. It was been this way for some time now. Any thoughts on what is causing this? Could my non-pro version have a different profile? I'm probably talking over my head here but I'm just at a loss.
Re: DRM error Shield TV
The Tube is 32 Bit Android and probably has not been updated... The Shields are 64 Bit are probably getting Android updates.swipes wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 5:17 am So this is very strange for me. Re: DRM error Shield TV
Any updates on when the certificates will work with nVidia Shields?
Re: DRM error Shield TV
Same here, no DRM on Shield Pro v 11 model # P2897. But working on my older Shield Pro and all Windows and IOS devices.
Update: Now BOTH Shield Pros not playing DRM! I'm having to resort to Roku with Spectrum app.

Any updates on this, please?bennyhugo wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:22 pm@nickk can you look into this? My NVidia Shields stopped working as well 3 days ago. Still no update.lavarocker wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 4:07 pm All of my Andrioid devices are not playing DRM channels again. Have Nvidia Shield devices and my cell phone and all are affected. Noticed this when I returned from vacation a few days ago.
I've rebooted the HDtuner and all devices with no change. Non-DRM channels are fine.
HDHomerun on Windows PC was also affected but started working again after installing the appstore update mentioned above.
Can this be addressed please?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: DRM error Shield TV
I have recently lost both of my ONN Android TV boxes
I hate complaining,. but didn't we all deal with this about 6 months ago
Same error
Unable to play channel:
No Video Data
Content Protection Required
DRM issue like before?
Please could you provide a timeline until this is addressed again
Thank you

Re: DRM error Shield TV
Same issue here on 2 ONN sticks and Shield Pro after latest Android updates. Been out of action for 2 weeks now. Any update on this?
Re: DRM error Shield TV
Excellent. Since you fully understand the issue, and will put appropriate procedures in place to avoid it in the future, this should never (ever) happen again. That is the goal for all.nickk wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:54 am The problem is not a cert expiring. Re: DRM error Shield TV
Could be helpful to label this problem as "Android TV DRM" as most people may not understand that this is impacting every Android related device.
The post threads on Shield and Google TV may mislead other people that have other types of Android TV devices into thinking it's a Shield or Google TV problem only.
I have all these devices as well as Android-based ONN, Xiaomi, LG Tablets, and Samsung phones that also do not work with HD Homerun Prime right now.
If any updates on timing or progress are available - please comment / reply.

Is this ever getting fixed?
