What update (experience/hotfix) on shield. I believe the shield's last update should be able to do cablecard drm but have not confirmed (i have no way to confirm such any longer other than reading it worked) and I don't know if the proper info was submitted to Google for that recent update. Hotfixes don't get that change at Google so they "never" work.

Not getting any diagnostic data from the app, only from the HDHomeRun.

Is it working on anything (ios, windows 10, other android tv box)?

What provider? What brand card? Do you have a TA? Anything in the cablecard pages indicating card not properly paired?

When did you last try on the phone that it was working?

I do suggest turning on sending of diagnostics data on the shield and reproduce on it as the issues could be different. In both of those devices there can be a recent change that causes the not rooted check to fail. Also keep in mind that several months ago the process of obtaining the license failed due to a deprecated api... magically that started working again but there is the possibility that those "modern" devices have such still deprecated and/or they decided to deprecate that api again (with no updates you "license" should work for up to a year but many updates force such renewal).

I believe today was the 90 day expiration day of the previous android drm thread. I almost bumped it yesterday to ask if the new 9.2 update was working for people.

Not working on any device.

I have VZ FiOS in central NJ.

No TA, Arris/Motorola card.

I was actually looking for that thread you were talking about, but it seems to be purged. I was on that thread when it got resolved

Double check the card is properly validated. My understanding is within a few months many more areas of Verizon will not support cablecards any longer as they begin to offer 2Gbps service in areas... those areas will be iptv only.

I am still waiting for someone to confirm to me that the new shield update works properly for cablecard drm but your issue is probably with verizon and proper pairing.

I'd probably run a scan and see if any drm channels get picked up by the box.

CableCARD DRM is working for me after installing the Shield Experience 9.2 update. I also have Verizon Fios in Philadelphia. I'm not sure if that is the same VHO as central NJ but I think it is.

Thanks for confirming, I thought it should but the timing of this post made me think it may not have since I hadn't heard otherwise. This does lead me to believe an issue with the card pairing in this case.

About a week ago I had noticed my Windows Pro desktop PC was no longer playing DRM channels
( didn't notice when it started because i use my Android TV ONN boxes daily, and not the PC)

BUT my 2 ONN Android TV Boxes were still working

Today, in the last hour or so, I now have lost those from being able to play DRM channels.

What gives with this?

It wasn't that long ago the Android Boxes couldn't play DRM channels
after the last issue months ago, and then that was eventually fixed/updated.

This gets frustrating. All because of DRM licensing? and expirations?....

Just as I posted this

( the DRM channels are back up? on my android boxes not windows PC -
PC still shows for the last few weeks:

"" Unable to play channel - The Broadcaster has applied usage restictioins to this content that prevents viewing on this device""

I just checked my two Windows PCs and I can play DRM channels on the Win10 PC but not the Win11 PC.

On my Android devices, DRM is working on my Shield, Moto G Power phone and Chromecast but not my onn box. On the onn box I manually checked for app updates and there was one available for Android System Webview, and after installing the update DRM started working on the onn box again.
