Seeing an error being reported in the logs. Engineering is investigating.

I am seeing the same error when trying to play on the Windows HDHomeRun app. I just updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2 and noticed the problem. No problem with playing DRM channels on the NVidia Shield boxes. Do you want me to open a new ticket and send diagnostics or do you already have enough data to identify the issue.

What does the ca page show? The streaming rate to me indicates either something expired with the card's pairing or something else is tripping it to essentially deliver audio only. On Cisco cards often one would see not staged in this case... moto cards have the same requirements but it isn't as obvious. What shows up on the system log at that time?

I just started experiencing the same thing on my Shield devices. Watching DRM channels was fine up until about a few days ago, at least that’s when I noticed. I have three of them, two of which were on the upgraded to 9.2, but all have the same issue.
No issues on any iPhones or iPads, so it’s not a cable card issue.
If there is any way I can help out by submitting logs please let me know.
I have Verizon Fios. Just north of Philadelphia.

I have had a ticket open since 2/17 - in my case it is a newly built Win 11 PC with apparently all the right settings (TMP 2.0, Secure Boot, etc), but when I play a cable card DRM channel in the app I receive: "Unable to play channel: Content protection error". DRM channels play fine on Win 8 MC and Win 10, plus a Win 11 that was upgraded from Win 10. I went back over all settings on the new Win 11 PC, turned on logging for SD to review - and even did a complete hard drive wipe and re-install of Win 11, but no change. Last night the ticket was updated to reference other users complaining and that it was being review by engineering. Hopefully just some expired certificate...

I think / hope this is just a certificate issue like last time. Thankfully VZ FiOS in my area doesn't DRM many channels, only fox owned channels

One of my nvidia shields stopped playing drm protected channels on the HDHomeRun app. I own 3 nvidia shields. The one with model number P2897 version 11 doesn’t play drm protected channels, the rest of the channels do work. I do have location services enabled. It was working fine before not sure what changed. I’m subscribed to Spectrum and using HDHomeRun primes with cable cards

SD released an updated Windows Store app that resolved my cable card DRM issue on Windows 11. Many thanks for them for continuing to support the Primes!

Nickk, this DRM started happening to some of my Shield Pro as well, 2 work and 2 don’t and assuming the 2 that are working now will stop working soon. Did the API change again?

All of my Andrioid devices are not playing DRM channels again. Have Nvidia Shield devices and my cell phone and all are affected. Noticed this when I returned from vacation a few days ago.

I've rebooted the HDtuner and all devices with no change. Non-DRM channels are fine.
HDHomerun on Windows PC was also affected but started working again after installing the appstore update mentioned above.

Can this be addressed please?

Thank you.

@nickk can you look into this? My NVidia Shields stopped working as well 3 days ago. Still no update.
