Launch the HDHomeRun app so it it playing live TV, press * on the remote, then set Volume mode to "Off".

The next release of the app will have a better error message.

@nickk - thanks for the response but I tried that and it did not work at all.
@kyl416 - I think you are onto something because I have 4 TVs and 2 of them work and 2 don't.
Here are the stats for the TV/Roku combination I was most interested in working that doesn't work:

Samsung TV Model: UN46EH5300
Roku Express 4K Model: 3941X

Is there a website to verify the compatibility of TVs and Rokus versus the HD application?
Also if I was to use a Plex server and access the HD tuner via the Plex application from the Roku would I had the same issues with the TVs that don't work?

Thanks

Unfortunately most Samsungs don't support decoding AC-3 over HDMI and the Express doesn't have a built in AC-3 decoder. Only certain Ultra and Streambar models have native AC-3 decoding.

On other platforms like Android/FireTV, Apple and Windows they are able to bundle their own AC-3 and MPEG-2 decoder with the apps, but Roku only allows developers to use their internal media player.

Which version of the Roku Ultra provide Native AC-3 decoding? Is there a Model I should be looking for to meet this criteria?

Thanks

I think most/all newer Samsung TVs support AC3 via HDMI now. My test 2020 Samsung is the lowest spec model and AC3 support via HDMI.

UN46EH5300 is a 2012 model, so it probably doesn't do AC3 over HDMI.

Ideally, don't use Roku, get a Fire TV Stick or onn. Google TV box and call it a day. If you must use Roku, get an Ultra model, (just plain Ultra, not Ultra LT), but it's kind of a waste to spend $80-100 for the high end model to use with a TV that can't take advantage of any of the features, when the $30 Fire TV Stick 4K or $20 onn. box will work better.

Any update on this firmware release? I think I screwed up by installing the 20250130beta1 firmware, and now have lost all of my ATSC 3.0 channels that were mostly working before the update (except the one with DRM).
