Why can't Upcoming show all recordings?

I asked a similar question before and the Upcoming was modified/increased to show 48 hours of Upcoming recordings. Please explain why it can't display all scheduled recordings, 2 weeks worth or whatever the guide data is?

Computing the entire recording schedule out 2 weeks is computationally expensive.

I ran a test on my own account (cable + antenna) just now - it took between 998ms and 1010ms which is outside our response time target for single requests.

My account has a lot of recording rules but is not the most.

1 second does not seem unreasonable, but you can't cache this and update a few times a day and when recordings are added/removed?
