I discovered some channels (ATSC 1.0) weren't working on my Plex server. It turns out channels were shuffled around. WBBM and WGN happen to be on the same frequency (19) now.
So if you're finding things not working correctly in Plex, that may be your issue.

Plex also doesn't work with any of the ATSC 3.0 channels whether they are DRM or not. I'm hoping this issue gets solved as the ATSC 3.0 (Non-DRM) codec is more efficient.

ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 can't co-exist on the same frequency. In order to convert WBBM's RF 12 signal to ATSC 3.0, all the 2.x channels had to find new homes:
2.1 CBS HD is now on WGN's RF 19 signal
2.2 StartTV is now on WGBO's RF 35 signal
2.3 DABL is now on WFLD's RF 24 signal
2.4 FaveTV is now on WMAQ's RF 34 signal
2.5 Charge! is now on WGBO's RF 35 signal

Both 2.4 and 2.5 also had to switch to AVC/H264 instead of MPEG-2 in order to squeeze onto WMAQ and WGBO

The CBS simulcast that was on 48.3 via WMEU-CD's RF 18 signal is now carrying Catchy Comedy in HD.

Plex also doesn't work with any of the ATSC 3.0 channels whether they are DRM or not. I'm hoping this issue gets solved as the ATSC 3.0 (Non-DRM) codec is more efficient.
Plex doesn't support the AC-4 audio codec used by ATSC 3.0 stations.

You can solve it yourself by accessing your HDHR through this Docker container, which transcodes the AC-4 audio to a more compatible format:

Or this fork, if you prefer:

Thank you... I'll have to try and figure out how to use Docker.

Hi,

I have a HDHomerun Quattro HDHR5-4US. I live in the Chicago area and was getting WBBM-TV CBS 2.1 until they switched to NextGen. From what I'm reading here, if I understand correctly, is that because my HDHomerun doesn't support ATSC 3 I will no longer be able to tune in channel 2. Please advice if this is correct. If so, it's a real shame.

FWIW channel 2.1 shows up during a channel scan in NPVR but tuning to it results in a streaming error.

Thanks,

The channel is still on ATSC 1.0 but has likely moved to a different frequency. First run a channel scan to pick up any changes. Depending on where it moved you may need to look at your antenna.

Thanks. I did another scan but nothing else is showing as CBS/WBBM-TV/Channel 2, asside from 48.3 but that is showing Gilligan's Island when it should be CBS Weekend News.
I'll keep plugging away but it doesn't look hopeful atm.

Does 2.1 get found if you run a channel scan on the Channel Lineup page on your HDHomeRun's web page at http://hdhomerun.local/ ?

Can you receive WGN, RF 19, virtual channels 9.x? That's where the ATSC 1.0 version of WBBM moved to, still virtual 2.1 but now called CBS2-HD, according to RabbitEars.

Awesome! Did a scan at http://hdhomerun.local/ then re-scanned on NPVR and it's working. Thank you so much! Didn't realize/think it would be related.
