TCL 55R617 Roku TV and Flex 4K

Post by kingcoldcuts »

Apologies in advance if this has been covered. I did a search, but didn't find anything relevant to what I'm experiencing.

1. Should I be getting sound via the cloud transcoder when tuning ATSC 3.0 channels on my TCL 55R617 from 2018? I know it does not have native AC-4 support like the more recent models. I am currently seeing video on all unencrypted channels, but no audio. Maybe I'm missing a configuration setting on the TV?

2. This is happening on my 2017 Shield Pro as well as the Roku TV - when I first try to tune unencrypted ATSC 3.0 channels, I intermittently receive a variety of error messages. Trying to change the channels several times results in them eventually tuning, but first I usually see messages like:

"HDHomerun problem: no video data"
"Roku player error: no video"
somethiing about an error but not http...

Thanks,

KCC

1. No cloud transcode for Roku.

2. Sounds like you're getting weak reception for those channels. Let's get some data:
  1. Please go to http://hdhomerun.local
  2. If it tells you that a firmware update is available, please install it
  3. Click System Status
  4. Check the Send diagnostic information box
  5. Go back one page
  6. Click Channel Lineup
  7. Click on Detect Channels

Reply back to this post and provide us the device ID of your HDHomeRun and we will check the logs. You can find the device ID on a label on the bottom of the HDHomeRun itself.

There are two ATSC 3.0 transmitters being picked up, one with really healthy signals, and one that is a bit weak. Are you having problems on all of the ATSC 3.0 channels, or just the 106.x channels?

I'm actually not using the 106.x channels at all (X'd out in the Channel Lineup). I am having issues with 103.1 and 108.1. 113.1 is encrypted, so no worries there.

I just re-enabled diagnostic data and replicated the issue I am seeing. Might be helpful.

This issue remains ongoing for me. Hoping the last log file I sent will shed some light on what's going on. For additional context, this only happens in the ATSC 3.0 channels. All ATSC 1.0 channels are displayed without issue, every single time.

Would opening up a trouble ticket be more appropriate?

Looks like logs stopped being recorded last week, but what is still there doesn't show any obvious issue. We might need to grab a sample of the ATSC channel. Let me ask Nick and see what he needs to dive deeper into this.

I have reactivated diagnostic data.

I am still experiencing the "No Video Data" issue when trying to tune in 103.1 and 108.1. 133.1 tunes in without issue. This has been ongoing for months now, albeit intermittently. I've just been dealing with it. Today, however, I cannot get the ATSC 3 channels to tune in at all.

I would really appreciate some troubleshooting here. TIA.

Hope you guys had a great holiday!

Is there anything in the diagnostic logs that indicate what the problem is here? I've been unable to tune 103.1 and 108.1 for about a week now. Would be great to start isolating the issue.

Thanks,

I was able to tune both channels once this morning. Now back to No Video Data.
