When will we have an option to set devices to static IPs? I've tried to "pin" mine to a particular IP using DHCP priority in AD DNS, but it's a PITA compared to most devices that have basic static ip assignment options.

Is there any way to discover the DVR?

BTW: my.hdhomerun.com doesn't work as it used to in firefox now, either.

Try my.hdhomerun.com/discover. That should list your devices. The ones with a StorageID are DVRs.

Perfect, listed in a nice format using Firefox Dev version, too:

Code: Select all

Looks like my DHCP affinity is working, so that's nice to know ... wonder if I could set that up for the DVR, too ... hmm

Suggestion: On the <DeviceID>.local web page, can we get the number of ENABLED channels displayed, like the old main page of my.hdhomerun.com. It's nice that I can detect 80+ channels, but the reality is that I disabled about 70 and since I have 2 units, I use that to detect when they get out of sync or one of the units detects some new channels.

My devices: 10522C9A (Extend) and 10740D6C (Quattro).

Wait, my.hdhomerun.com/discover works on my Edge browser. If that is the case, why can't we have the original capability back. It seems all my devices are listed correctly. All we need is a webpage translate the json and allow you to click through those links.

The issue isn't getting "discover" to work, but getting the page to reach out to the devices to pull in the data from http://<ip-of-device>/discover.json to be displayed on that page as it now violates CORS policy of the browser for a page on the internet to reach out for data on your LAN.

What they could have done is provided direct links to the devices on that page but not display the actual information.

What I would have done would have been to essentially move the page to the device (may require a fairly modern device and/or something with a record engine) and have it serve up the data of the other devices in the same fashion. For example the link might be http://<ip-of-devuce>/devices.html and it basically give you the same information that my.hdhomerun.com used to.

I basically have a page hosted by my web server that can do such... the difference is the web server is reaching out to get the data (which is allowed) instead of a browser (which no longer can)

Yeap, offer just a link to the device's web page is much better solution than nothing at all.

I just ran into this trying to register my DVD software purchase, the link for the first step doesn't work for chrome, I was able to get it to run with Firefox android from a Chromebook.
It would be helpful if the SiliconDust SHOP order receipt had some text about this instead of just step 1 use this blind link.
Step 1:Link your HDHomeRun tuner here.

Step 2: HDHomeRun DVR instructions.
The website needs some cleanup to reference the new Flex devices as well.

From https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/produ ... /software/
The HDHomeRun DVR software works with HDHomeRun tuners (CONNECT, EXTEND, EXPAND, PRIME) to record to your Mac, Windows 10/UWP, or NAS, with playback on your Mac, Windows 10/UWP, Android Mobile, Android Media devices and iOS devices (minimum version 11.0 for the above listed tuners – does not work with legacy products). Progress Buildsare released regularly tracking development.

Available in US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil at this time. For use with HDHomeRun CONNECT (HDHR4-2US/HDHR4-2DT/HDHR4-2IS(BR)), HDHomeRun CONNECT DUO HDHR5-2US/HDHR5-2DT, HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO HDHR5-4US/HDHR5-4DT, HDHomeRun EXTEND (HDTC-2US), HDHomeRun EXPAND (HDHR3-4DC/HDHR5-4DC) and/or HDHomeRun PRIME (HDHR3-CC) tuners.

Ive used HDHomerun\Discover but only see the Tuner Device:
[
{
"DeviceID": "107838xx",
"LocalIP": "192.168.1.10",
"BaseURL": "http://192.168.1.10",
"DiscoverURL": "http://192.168.1.10/discover.json",
"LineupURL": "http://192.168.1.10/lineup.json"
}
]

I don't see the DVR. Is this because I have an activation issue or because I need to "Activate" it. If it needs activation, how exactly do I do that manually?

The dvr would have to be registered... if you have an old browser you can still do so with email link. If not. There is something to do with some of the numbers to key in elsewhere

See https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/dvr:activation

You may need to scroll down to see the steps but basically you need the first 8 characters of account key (in email)

Then in the hdhomerun app, back (from live), gear icon (settings), account, login, email address used, code is those first 8 characters of key from email.

Also make sure recording engine is on same subnet (so it can connect to tuner), and it has a StorageID (should generate one when it starts if it doesn't have one but very old engines might not and some installs may lack writing privileges to the config file of the engine)
