I did a couple of test recordings with the Silicondust DVR solution on the new Columbus ATSC3.0 channels.. They worked fine. The video was 720P HEVC 10bit with 5.1 AC-4 audio.

My Nvidia Shield Pro (2019 model) plays audio with a TV that doesn't have AC-4 or Atmos capability.

Thanks for mentioning that. It looks like that's what I go with when I decide to get another streaming box.

So, I am only able to intermittently decode the new ATSC 3.0 signal from 80 miles away (not a shock). I can get a transient lock on PLP0, and it looks like it only carries 153.1 WWHO. Its interesting in that it doesn't pixelate to the same degree as marginal ATSC 1.0 signals. So far I can only watch the output in VLC. The signal is so weak that the scans from HDHomerun Setup skip by the channel and so I can't watch it in any of the native HDHomerun apps. I'm not sure if that's a bug, or a feature. :)

Can someone post the program numbers for each channel? In the HDHomeRun Config GUI, they appear at the left side of the drop-down where you choose the program. I expect they're in the 5000 range.

Quoting you so the request doesn't get lost on the next page for those that view in chronological order rather than reverse. But also wanted to mention that they should also be able to see such if one goes to the devices lineup page and change the .html to .json?tuning (i.e. <ip-of-tuner>/lineup.json?tuning ) and then scroll down to the 100 numbered channels and an entry would look something like (note below is one of the channels in phoenix but didn't post all since this is Columbus thread)

Code: Select all

{
GuideNumber: "112.1",
GuideName: "NBC*12",
Modulation: "atsc3",
Frequency: 599000000,
PLPConfig: "0",
ProgramNumber: 79,
VideoCodec: "HEVC",
URL: "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5004/auto/v112.1"
},

What is being asked for is the ProgramNumber for each. In the past they were more typically posted by a screen shot (which some in the forum have trouble with) or by stating something like 79 112.1 NBC*12 for each program on the ATSC 3.0 physical channel. Not sure what Trip would like with it now adding of 100 to the channel numbers but think that is understood now. And if there are multiple physical channels it would probably be best to group them that way.

The main reason I mention such as some may not have got the full software package to use config_gui

Thanks for the alternative method; that's really helpful. The primary key in the RabbitEars subchannel database is the Program Number, so without it, I either have to guess at the program number or can't do the update at all. I'd prefer to do it properly rather than guessing.

But the addition of 100 to the virtual channel number is easy enough to reverse engineer. ;)

An update:
PLP0 on this signal is marginally watchable with occasional full screen stops and significant macroblocking. Even when the signal is solid, I have no audio on either VLC (expected) or the HDHomerun app under Windows 10. I have Dolby Access installed and I believe that should provide an AC-4 codec. I plan on uninstalling and reinstalling the HDHomerun app when I get the chance. Any other things I should check when trying to get audio under Windows 10?

I'm also seeing video artifacts like this as well on all of the new ASTC 3.0 channels regardless of what device I'm using, Shield Pro (2017), 2020 Roku Ultra, and my Pixel 3a XL. I've also noticed that the audio and video get out of sync, with the audio getting ahead of the video, but they get back in sync once I run into one of those video distortion. Should someone start a thread of these issues to help with troubleshooting?

Can you please do a quick format=dbg capture...

Replace "hdhomerun" with the device ID if you have more than one device. When saved please upload to something like Google Drive and PM me the share link.

They must still be doing some work on the broadcasts, only 106.3 is working at all this morning. If I see the same thing for 104.1 when it comes back up I'll send you the log.
