5v DC 1.5A power supply - can this be replaced by USB power?

Post by LittleTortillaBoy »

Just a general query for a first time user in Australia. I have a couple of USB charger points on my power board and was wondering if I could us something like this USB charger cable, no plug, to power the HDHR Quattro?

Thanks in advance, sorry if it's a silly question!

Not sure what a power board is.
You would need to know what power output is available on the ports you are plugging in to. e.g. I have a plug in USB charging adapter that supplies 1A and 2.1A on its 2 ports.
If you are pulling from a computer then the USB spec claims a device may draw a maximum of 5 unit loads (500 mA) from a port in USB 2.0; 6 (900 mA) in USB 3.0.

The dc needs to be very clean, most usb converters are very poorly made and don't output clean power.
