HDHomeRun no Video on 18.5 (LibreElec 9.2.0)

Post by jeremylee_7 »

Hello,

I have an HDHomeRun Duo.

On Raspberry Pis (both 3 and 4 models) HDHomeRun refuses to play video running LibreElec 9.2.0 and Kodi Leia 18.5

It keeps popping up the Live TV and Exit screen.
I can get the EPG to display for a second until the Live TV/Exit option screen refreshes.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

My living room Kodi is still on LibreElec 9.0.2. with Kodi 18.2 and I do not have this problem, as well as an RPi 3 also on LE 9.0.2.

Are you able to hear audio at all, or is nothing playing at all?

Not sure if this is your problem or not but the addon remembers the last channel it played when you exit. When you launch the addon the next time it tries to play that same channel again. If that channel is no longer available the addon doesn't know what to do. On LibreELEC the last channel is stored in the settings.xml file located in storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/script.hdhomerun.view. If that's what is happening you can edit the settings.xml file and change it to a known good channel number.

I am also having this issue. Here is what I know.
Open to suggestions.
This is on a raspberry pi 4 with libreelec 9.2.3

The log looks like the below. If i put the url in vlc on my windows laptop it plays fine.

Code: Select all

I looked at the Kodi code for you, and unfortunately error 7 doesn't give a lot to go on. This is a generic "can't connect to server" coming from the cURL library, as the description pretty much suggests. You can probably rule out local security policy / SELinux type of stuff since you can get data from that URL via the command line. I believe Kodi runs as root on LibreELEC, but if it doesn't that could be a difference when compared with SSH-ing into it.

Do you have the LibreELEC "Wait for Network" setting enabled? Also see if later on in the log you see anything about a DNS failure (search for "DNS", "name resolution", "resolve", stuff like that).

Are you configured for just IPv4, or perhaps also configured for IPv6?

Kodi does run as root

Code: Select all

LibreELEC:~/.kodi/temp # ps -a | grep kodi
  730 root 0:00 {kodi.sh} /bin/sh /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.sh --standalone -fs
  735 root 17:34 /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin --standalone -fs

No DNS related errors i can see in the log.

Wait for Network is enabled..and other services can stream data.

I have also tried the TVJunkie version of the add-on. This gives the same error when trying to watch, yet the guide works fine.

Your best bet at this point may be to contact LibreELEC. It's a moderately customized version of Kodi and they may have done something that prevents Python-based addons the ability to access the tuners.

I hate self-advertising but have you tried my "unofficial" Kodi PVR addon? If that fails to work as well I can likely be of much more assistance.

I will try your add-on. Which Version should I use for Libre on Raspberry Pi 4?

Also, it turned out to be related to my socks5 proxy settings. If I disable socks5, I could get to HD Homerun. Not sure why it is passing through a socks5 proxy for a local IP?!?

I don't have a Pi4 to test with, but the "linux-armhf" is likely the best version to use. If that won't install/load, downgrade to "linux-armel". I don't think LibreELEC has gone 64-bit on any platforms other than Intel x86_64 yet, so I don't think the "aarch64" build will work for you.
