Sep 14th rescan day

Post by GGRussell » Thu Aug 15, 2019 6:00 am

Have been seeing commercials here to rescan OTA channels on Sep 14th. Is that a national thing or just local?

I haven't seen those commercials here in St. Louis. So, maybe local to you?

If the station is advertising 9/14, then someone screwed up. Phase 5 stations have to be moved by 9/6.

I checked WBIR Knoxville, TN and didn't see it listed in any of the Phases. LOL

I've seen them air this just to get you to scan-in and watch their debuting sub-channel.

Antennaweb.org will show stations in your area that are subject to the FCC repack and the effective date.

KSTC 45 in Minneapolis/St. Paul was scheduled to move from RF channel 45 to RF channel 30 on June 21, delayed to August 2 and then September 6 - delays due to weather and awaiting deliver of the new broadcasting antenna AFIK. There was a scrolling text overlay early last Monday morning to re-scan on August 23rd.

WBIR isn't moving. They moved their digital broadcast to their old analog channel 10 when analog TV was shut off and will remain there. Knoxville does have several stations in phase 5 that will be moving by 9/6 (WPXK, WVLT, WBXX, WTNZ, WKOP), then 2 in phase 7 that are moving by 1/17/20 (WVLR and WETP, which are stuck waiting for other stations in phase 6 to vacate the channels they're moving to).

Thanks Jason. I'm too far to receive the last two. So I'll just rescan on 9/6.
