HDHomeRun RECORD for FreeBSD randomly misses certain shows

Postby averyfreeman » Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:49 pm

Hi,

Seattle-area comcast customer here. Wondering if there's an issue with my programming schedule?

I've had the same setup since the start of summer 2018 - FreeBSD RECORD service and Windows 10 VIEW clients.

I record the news on CNN and MSNBC all day/night and lately recordings of certain broadcasts have failed to record.

It's totally new and totally random. Example - here's what I've missed:

Last week: Reliable Sources (sun 2/3/19), Cuomo Prime Time (fri 2/8/19) - both on CNN ch 657
This evening: The 11th Hour (Tue 2/12/19) - MSNBC.

I hadn't had any problems with this that I can remember until recently, now it's been at least 3 shows in a little over a week? The shows are all set up to record every day, and had been recording every day without fail for months.

Any ideas? Thanks :)

Edit: I should probably mention that I go to tasks to make sure the shows still have recording tasks and in the case of two of them they did, in the case of one it had been removed somehow (although I do not remember doing it and my girlfriend only uses the system every once in a blue moon).

I tried restarting the task for 11th hour this evening since it was still on and it still wouldn't record.

tl;dr

System info:

Looks like RECORD version is 08172018, FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-p5

I am trying to figure out why you are posting so much config information when you need to look at the logs for the answer (times are UTC), unless the engine isn't working at all (but you said randomly so I have my doubts there are any system issues unless the engine lost internet access for the 4 hours prior to airing).

Unfortunately most is too far past to look up reasons but I suspect the engine thought they were duplicates or you have the series marked as recent (current season) as what you missed tonight was not labeled as "new" from the provider when I went to another source with their data (rather than SD's as one does not see that until it records or mimics an engine within 4 hours of the upcoming episode) as the date of the episode was Sep 6 2016 which is typical for news programs to use the original date of first episode (which is why to record again they must be "new" or deleted prior to the next recording but make sure to choose re-record if done through app, new overrides such logic of if you have it or not). Other reasons are tuners are busy (then check tuner logs rather than dvr logs)

The two from cnn at least for upcoming episodes don't show as new but also don't have season/episode information but Original Airdate and ProgramID do change from

Sorry, it's kind of a reflex from frequenting other tech-related sites, I just always post whatever system info I can think of might be remotely useful (you never know...)

The system did not lose internet connection, so we can rule that out.

The most recent example, 11th hour MSNBC last night - task shows it's set to record 'all episodes'
Air date listed as Sep 6 2016 on all shows - so yes, appears to be the original air date of the first show
However, it lists the same air date for all shows and has been recording properly up until last night.

How do I get HDHomeRun RECORD to produce logs in FreeBSD?

Do you know if there's been an update to the RECORD service I'm missing? It has been 6 months since this version was released.

Thanks

The logs should be in the recording folder.

The guide data is missing the flag that indicates these are new episodes, so the DVR thinks they are repeats and doesn't record them. I have opened a case with the guide provider to get that corrected.

I thought it might be something like that

I really appreciate it - I just missed another show because of it tonight, 11th hour w/ Brian Williams @ 11 EST on MSNBC

Thank you
